Kinda pricey, but comes with a book on cars and driving technique. Haven't seen that sice Grand Prix Legends:

http://us.gran-turismo.com/us/news/gt5/d5232.html

Might have to get it, just 'cause... smile

BTW, on the last day of the show Sony let the SimHQ staff have 3 sim cockpits for about an our each, and we drove the heck out of GT5 with all the aids turned off. Comments coming in a future article, hopefully next week. Bottom line: Once you try it, it seems to be on a par or just a tad better than FM3. Some things we liked more, some less, but it felt really good, and better than GT5Prologue.

I just wish more than 200 of their cars shipped with accurate cockpits...

I preordered the GT5 CE this morning! smile

I collect Minichamp diecast models. I have always heard good things about Kyosho diecast!

I am sure it will be better than FM3 if the info being released about the GT5 features is true.

The no cockpit for most car thingyummy is not a dealbreaker for me. I usually drive using bonnet view in most sims (until someone develops a "dashboard view" I do not want to see another wheel and hands when I have my own right in front of me! LOL).

this site is very Xbox-oriented. check out the GT planet site for GT5 info - these GT fanatics always seem to find/uncover new info on a daily basis (the power of numbers?! LOL).
I would avoid the official Sony GT - it appears to be very strict and the Sony folks delete anything negative about GT or anything discussing/comparing other racing sims to GT - maybe they are scared this GT will not match up to the hype? LOL

Just FYI... confirmed at E3... all cars will have a cockpit view, but only 200 will have the real car model cockpit view, others will have a standard cockpit for thier type of car.

And I'm pre-ordering it AND buying a PS3 finally...for this game, lol, better be good. wink

MS
The ability to use pc wheels with the PS3 does make it mighty tempting. Not enough for me yet, but it shows an area where MS has *grossly* dropped the ball.

Any info on the MP setup? I own a PS3, and might consider getting a new wheel, but only if the online isn't gimped like T10 did to Forza.

Not much news on multiplayer, but I have heard that more can join than the 8 in FM3, and there may be some other ways to manage or configure your online races.... we hope. Waiting for more details when they arise.

Here's a bullet list I found elsewhere (highlights mine):

Night/Day transition
Stunt Arenas
32 player online lobbies
16 player online races
Spectator mode
Weather
200 PS4 cars and 800 standard cars
Nascar license
WRC license
Super GT license
Rolling and damage (eerily real weight)
1st person walkabout photo mode
YouTube uploading
1080p
PS Eye headtracking
Motion controls
HDMI 1.4 Stereoscopic 3D @ 60fps
Split-screen
Track (not map) Editor (think Forge where you decorate existing ones)
Best graphics in any driving game (lighting, physics driven smoke, attention to detail..etc)
Real life tracks recreated in maddening quality (up to 2 year dev times)
20+ locations with 70+ variations
PSP Connectivity
Go karts to Rally to classics to sport to Drag car, ordinary cars...etc etc etc
Animated drivers, handling and gear shifts, pit crews, tire changes etc
Custom soundtrack
Text and Voice chat
Narrative involvement by popular drivers and Top Gear crew
Top Gear Test Track
Open free-form Track Days
GT Life (career mode, this time with earth map and real time clock) & Arcade mode
Profile pages
In-game (bulletin-board) message boards
Gran Turismo Video store (Top Gear Show has 350+ million viewers)

I'm starting to get really interested now. I can get the Logitech FFB wheel locally for 100 bones, so I may switch over to the GT series for my racing fix.

Rig - NLR Gttrack with Flight Pack, Thrustmaster TX w/28GT wheel, VRS Pedals w/clutch, Thrustmaster 16000 w/TWCS, Reverb G2 v2, nobsound usb amp pushing BST-1 shakers

One site is reporting that a second CE is in the works. iirc the Sony forum post rumor is that this second CE will include more car-related paraphernalia and go for $200+ USD.

Well, I pre-ordered the GT5 CE from Gamespot. Now I'll have to sneak a 250GB PS3 Slim past the wife! I think if I pay cash she won't notice until she sees the new, dark shape under my PC desk... smile

Also planning on a MadCatz vertical stand with 4-port USB hub built-in. Make it look more like a PC under there...

Just tell her it is a new APC power supply you bought on sale. wink

This sounds like the makings of a new article for SimHQ.

Might take months to do - I've never owned a PS3 and so I have little to no clue about how they work, or do multiplayer.

Slightly less easy than the 360 when it comes to multiplayer but not by much. Any simmer who's ever played multiplayer will have no issues, you might have to do some port forwarding but on most routers you don't even have to do that.
