Hey all, just putting an idea i had while reading in multiple posts the same questions being asked over and over again. To help clean up and de-clutter this forum i think we should agree on an install process and put a sticky up for 1.13. This is my proposal:
Installing from stock CD using Dfang's instructions:
1.Install EECH
2.Install 1.4.1C patch
3.Run EECH
4.Install 1.13.0 All Mods
Also install OpenAL if you don't have. (must have installed for sim to run!)
Installing all-mods if you bought from gog.com:
1.Install EECH
2.Run EECH
3.Install 1.13.0 All Mods
Also install OpenAL if you don't have. (must have installed for sim to run!)
With either version you need to go into your EECH.ini located in your "cohokum" directory (C:\Razorworks\cohokum) and change theese settings to get the updated graphics:
dwash=1
texture_colour=2
texture_filtering=1
mipmapping=1
dynamic_water=1
persistant smoke=1
high lod hack=1
Persistant smoke and high lod hack are optional but if you have a higher end machine i would highly suggest turning theese on. Tree shadows i would suggest leaving off as they seem to interfere with the FLIR/DTV systems. Also, make sure on load up screen that version 1.13 and GWUT1130.CSV are displayed. I ran into a couple of cases including my own so far where when upgrading from 1.12.3 or older versions, the WUT file was not updated automatically. You must delete or rename your old WUT file and go into your EECH.ini and change this line to read this:
[WUT]
# for more information see
http://www.eechcentral.com/wiki/index.php?title=WUTwut=GWUT1130.CSV # Weapons and Unit Tweaking file (n = filename)
Hopefully this helps out the new guys just getting into EECH. Ive heard around the net that some folks are staying away from it because of the problematic install process. Thats a shame as they are missing out on one of the best heli-sims out there! Everything ive put in this post is a culmination of other post and my own experience so far. I understand that no ones system is the same but i think if we can come up with a "standard" it will help diagnose problems easier maybe? Just my thoughts
