After an enjoyable tour of duty with SBProPEcm, I went back in time to Steel Beasts Gold, a product that now sells for $100 at Amazon as Like New and a mere $74 for Good condition.
Amazing.
1) Have the graphics ever been updated from their 1024 range?
You mean, from the 800x600 range, 256 colors?
No.
Going beyond that was one of the driving factors for the development of the new engine as seen in SB Pro PE.
2) I am finding that with my Nvidia GeForce7800 that a few minutes after program launch the graphics will turn into a scrambled RGB mess. This appears random, cured only by exiting a restarting the program. Yet its occurence is frustrating. Is there any corrective measure for this?
You can hope for a better driver, one day. Some drivers don't even support these 8 bit SVGA modes any longer, at all. There certainly isn't any solution from eSim; SB Gold is the sum of all patches and updates and everything, and we stopped the development right there and then, I'm sorry.
You know though that you can run all SB1 scenarios in SB Pro PE, at least in principle?
Water crossings are more problematic than they were in SB1, so the one or other scenario may require modification. Beyond that I don't recall specific problems. But the new engine will address all the issues that you mentioned, so IMHO there's no reason to look back.
