Hi

I'm making a non-commercial hobby air-race game/sim with Blender 3D's build-in game engine, which is using the Bullet physic engine.

You can see my current state on this video:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7422m-zrRUo

Older one with sounds/music:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vYDfISes8xU

I finally could make a .exe version for the public show.

Here is a Menu screen

Game zip file(27M):
http://fdm4bge.1g.fi/Files/10001/BGE_AirRace/Demos/BGE_AirRace_demo.zip

Unzip file to any location.

This requires at least three axis joystick. The pedals are not supported yet, since the flight model is lacking the yaw input.

User need to first run the HOTAS.exe to make a configuration file for the BGE_AirRace_demo.exe.

Start the BGE_AirRace_demo.exe and maximize the screen.

About the penalty system (track-judge) you can find more from included ReadMe.txt file.

I try to create better brief & instruction later on.

Thank you for your attention

Hi

I compiled a new .exe with Blender3D's own Save As Runtime function.

New .exe do not require a .NET installation.

Use original download link.

If you are interested, you can find a source file here:

Hi

Did anybody tried this yet? It would nice to hear your critics.

For the BGE_AirRace_demo.blend file viewing you need a Blender 3D v.2.49b installation.

This isn't the busiest of the SimHQ forums, so don't lose heart over the lack of responses. It might be an idea to post a link to this thread over in the community hall. If I get some free time this week I will download Blender and give it a try.

Hi

Thanks

The work is ongoing.

# ---------------

In my dreams a perfect air-race game/sim would include a off-season plane development part.

The player could design own plane within preset min/max dimension rules & principals.

The basic plane configuration is a typical Red Bull air-race plane, but certain adjustments can do.

Lets say:
- select a engine from available list. Weaker but lighter and less consumption OR vice versa.
- select a airfoils from available list.
- select a prop from available list. High speed vs acceleration.
- wing, vert. & hor. stabilizer areas(min/max).
- aspect ratios(min/max).
- tail length(min/max).

The weight, CG & neutral point of the plane a is calculated/estimated by game/sim.
Yes, a lots of blatant gamey guesstimate, but in name of the fun.

The Race Season
The player must fly whole season with this same plane configuration.

The seasons race tracks would include from tad scaled Red Bull air-race type of tracks to the Reno air-race Sport / Formula One class type of tracks and something between.

The racers needs to design a plane, which is fitting to her/his flying style in any given track design.

Just an idea
