Howdy All, Went through some very very old boxes today and found a near pristine set of the "Luftwaffe" strategy-simulation boardgame ! All is in, nothing is missing ! Target sheets, order of battles for both German & US airforces, plane counters and all. Even a few scribblings made by some mates and myself a good 25 years ago. I still remember the boardgame sitting on the dining room table for days on end, forcing my mom to eat in the kitchen until the campaign was over ! Anyone played it back then? If you want to know a little more about this pre-computer sim, check out http://www.boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/3646/luftwaffeI do ressent the "geek" thing a little but never mind. cheers, Slug

That is some treasure!
I grew up playing lots of board games. My favorites were the Squad Leader series, Midway, Tobruk and Air Force. I still have my Squad Leader set at my parent's home. It is nice of them not to throw that away.

Yes I have played that many times with friends. Is anyone familiar with this one? Yeah I used to play Luftwaffe and others long before EAW and IL-2 came around. Along with Axis & Allies, Dawn Patrol (WWI air combat), and Fight in The Skies. Which was the old version of Dawn Patrol.

I have about 3 shelves full of bookcase games. As far as air combat I have Air Force,Over The Reich,Central America(has aircraft ops) and Sixth Fleet. I however liked the tactical games better like Squad Leader and its add-on's.Ambush!(my favorite) and Sniper! and its modern version Special Forces. A great website for these games is.... http://www.boardgamegeek.com/They even have pics of all these games. Its a good site to find classic's or modern ones.

'Played countless PBM games of Luftwaffe; added the tactical variant rules that appeared in a later issue of the Avalon Hill General and it really improved game play and realism.
'Still play Mustangs only with 1/285 / 1/300 scale miniatures on a large table.
'First air wargame was 'Battle of Britain' by Lou Zocchi (the designer of Luftwaffe); still play that one!

Dude163,
I have Downtown - enjoyed it.
What level is Burning Blue played at: Squadron, Gruppe ?
I assume Nightfighter is individual/section of 2 aircraft?

Feel free to argue the flight models =) Best way to describe Gun Factor: ME262 4x30mm = 16 (higher the better) If I remember correctly: maneuver symbol may vary on aircraft speed Red Circle - Excellent (best) White Diamond - Good Blue Square - Average Green Shield - Poor Tan Triangle - Bad (worst) Luftwaffe Japan RAF USAAF VVS Others
