NOVIGRAD, Chernarus (AAN) – Chernarussian anger at belligerent rogue state.

The Chernarussian Government has reacted angrily today following a Takistani missile test flight near its territory.

Officials in Novigrad say the medium-range ballistic missile test-fired by Takistan landed in the Green Sea.

Regional Tension

The Chernarussian President Baranov, brother of the assassinated Chernarussian premier, confirmed that his government had been aware of Takistan's preparations to launch a ballistic missile into the waters south of the nation's capital, in Chernarussia's Western Province.

As a result, Chernarus has refused to sign an agreement on the sharing of costs of improvements in intra-regional communications. Chief Cabinet Secretary Jan Haládik has lodged a protest with the hard-line Takmyr administration.

"To conduct - without prior notification – a ballistic missile test in the Green Sea, where numerous merchant, military and civilian vessels and aircraft are operating, constitutes an extremely dangerous act”, Mr Haládik said.

This latest event, part of a series of regional political flashpoints, emphasises the geopolitical tensions in the Green Sea region.

US concern

The United States has expressed concern over the Takistani action. Correspondents report it is likely to overshadow talks which have resumed in New York between Washington and Takmyr on the progress of an agreement by Takistan to freeze its weapons development programme.

Takistani Ministry of Defense officials stated that new missiles are stationed in Central Takistan as long-range defensive assets.

Takistan’s Weapon Development Programme

Chernarussian officials have announced the missile had landed inside their territorial waters and are reported to have sent warships to the area to investigate.

Karzeghistan's Defence Ministry identified the missile as a newly-improved Scud-B ballistic missiles, with an estimated range of approximately 300km.

Officials in Chernarus and the US are refusing to comment on how many Scud-B missiles Takistan possesses, or whether Takistan possess chemical or biological warheads. File photo.

The test firing precedes plans for the newly formed Special Artillery Regiments - under the control of Abdul-Mussawir Ghafurzai - to deploy the improved missiles, fitted to mobile launching vehicles.

The AAN Novigrad correspondent notes the speculation that the latest missile firing was intended by Takistan as a demonstration of power in advance of the 20th anniversary of the founding of the Socialist state.

PRIMORSK, Chernarus (AAN) – Chernarussian gunboats deploy for sovereignty patrol; NATO leaders reaffirm commitment to Green Sea region.

A squadron of gunboats departed from the Chernarussian naval base at Primorsk for a sovereignty patrol near Chernarus’s border with Takistan.

Meanwhile, NATO officials issued statements today reaffirming their commitments to peace-building in the Green Sea region.

Gunboats Deploy for Two Week Patrol

Four gunboats left Primorsk harbour today on what Chernarussian leaders are calling a patrol to “reaffirm Chernarussian sovereignty” in the Green Sea. Chernarussian Vice-Admiral Alexendrov Grigorei was joined by Minister of Defence Nikoloz Zhvania to address reporters this morning.

“This deployment sends a clear message to Takmyr: Chernarus will not sit idle, and is both capable and willing to defend its territory,” said Grigorei. The deployment is on the heels of a Scud-B ballistic missile test conducted by Takistan earlier this month.

NATO Officials Reaffirm Commitment to Green Sea Peace

Later today, NATO spokesman James Di Marco reaffirmed NATO’s commitment to sustaining peace in the Green Sea region before reporters at NATO’s regional command headquarters in Chernogorsk.

“Allied forces have made significant progress in South Zagoria over the last few months,” said Di Marco. “We’re planning for partial withdrawal of combat units from the region and a gradual handover of security to Chernarussian forces. But we're not leaving. NATO's priority right now is a sustained peace throughout the region.”

When questioned about Takistan’s missile test earlier this month, Di Marco said NATO forces remain “attentive” to the situation and refused to rule out the use of force to disarm the Takmyr regime, especially after talks collapsed between Takmyr and Washington diplomats last week in New York.

“We’re obviously paying close attention to how things are unfolding in Takistan. We’ve extended a few opportunities to move towards a peaceful disarmament, but all options remain on the table at this point.”

Di Marco refused to comment if NATO naval forces will be joining the Chernarussian gunboats on their patrol, although confidential sources suggest that the USS Khe Sanh expeditionary strike group has departed Utes and is currently steaming south-west towards Takistan.

PRIMORSK, Chernarus (AAN) – Crisis in Green Sea after Takistani Attack

NATO forces in the Green Sea region are reeling after an attack on Chernarussian and American warships operating off the coast of Takistan.

A series of cruise missiles reportedly originating from the Takistani coast attacked a combined NATO/Chernarussian patrol group at 10:36 AM local time.

At least two Chernarussian gunboats were sunk, and another was conducting damage control as of 11:30 AM. No American ships are reported to have been hit.

NATO officials issued a press release around noon to announce the attack. Though short on details, the press release indicated that chemical dispersants were detected in the area immediately following the attack.

The discovery of dispersants fuels fears that the Takmyr regime may be on the verge of a breakthrough in its chemical weapons program.

The UN Security Council convened for an emergency session following the attack. The session concluded around 1:30 PM New York time after having quickly drafted and passed resolution 1934.

A final ultimatum for the Takmyr regime, resolution 1934 demands Takistan both return to negotiations and permit the entry of UN inspectors within 48 hours. US armed forces in the Green Sea region are reportedly cancelling the withdrawal of all combat units.

Tomorrow, US forces attempt to solidify their hold in northern Takistan with an attack on Takistani Army units dug-in at the Par-e Siah oil field.

Meanwhile, rumours persist that a scientist with ties to the Takmyr regime may be in hiding in eastern Takistan. US Special Forces are sent to investigate....

After overwhelming and destroying the Takistani Army forces dug in at Par-e Siah Oilfield, coalition forces have secured a foothold in northeast Takistan. Coalition losses have been sporadic so far; the most recent engagement saw some ground vehicles disabled and a single AH-64D Apache helicopter lost.

Advances continue on multiple axes.

Tonight, US Special Forces continue searching the area near Karachinar for a scientist with suspected links to Takistan's chemical weapons programme.

Meanwhile, a Marine squad supported by two M1A2s has cornered the King of Spades - a high-ranking officer in the Takistani Army, Lt. Gen. Abdulla Rasawadi. Wanted for multiple crimes against the Takistani people, Rasawadi is defended by a detachment of elite Takistani Revolutionary Guards and will not be apprehended without a fight.

A platoon of T-72 tanks threatens allied forces operating in central Takistan. Tonight, Bundeswehr KSK special forces strike the tanks at a Takistani motor pool near Feruz Abad, This is a combined mission: support is provided by an American AH-6.

Intel obtained by Charlie team during the raid on the compound has been thoroughly analysed. It points out the locations of defences in and around Zargabad. This will prove highly valuable as coalition armoured units rally for the final push on Zargabad.

The Takistani Army is collapsing, and many units are pulling back to defend the regional capital of Zargabad. Today, US armoured units blitz north to overwhelm defences controlling the southern road into Zargabad, the first operation to seize the city.

Our mission from last week remains unplayed due to low turnout, plus we have a new one from adlabs6 attacking TKA strongpoints near the same region, on the south-east side of Zargabad.

Fatty, I'm sorry I forgot to send you an intel report on my Campaign 09 mission (15 players) for this thread....

INTEL:
Your US Army squad is moving north from a village friendly to Allied forces, to complete two objectives.

Objective #1: Sweep and clear a small village of TKA forces harassing local civilians.
Objective #2: Break up a sizable TKA infantry camp which defends the south east quarter of the capital city of Zargabad.

Support Assets: Your squad is outfitted with a mortar team, to assist in softening the TKA camp ahead of your assault. A Littlebird operating to support Allied operations farther to the west will provide battlefield intel updates when possible.

Much of Zargabad has been captured by coalition forces, however some fanatical units are still dug-in and resisting. Informants have indicated that High Value Target 1 - the president of Takistan himself - is cornered in his mountain villa to the north-east of Zargabad. A Marine Force Recon squad supported by a UH-1Y helicopter is being dispatched to assault the villa, capture HVT1, and escort him to a nearby safe house where he will be transferred to CIA custody.
