I must say being a great fan of Red Baron this looks great,
Heres my PC:2.66 Ghz duo with 2 GB of RAM. 8800 GT video card with 512 memory.
So for the few questions:
1.) I have heard there are incompatibility issues with virus software and jittering with dual core processors.

2.) Joysticks, I haven't got one, how is the Thrustmaster Stick X or 16000M?

3.) I don't have CFS3, is the one from Valuesoft available at Amazon for about $10 OK ?

4.) Once I have CFS3, what is the installment procedure? Is there some way to choose between CFS3 or OFF?
I wanted to try ROF, but from what I've read here OFF looks to be more complete and will probably work better with my current system. I've had IL-2 and other flight sims, but there always seems to be stutters, which really takes away from the experience.

Well looks like a Thrustmaster Stick X is the way I'll go, still trying to get the Ubisoft DVD version of CFS3 (Any help here would be greatly appreciated).
But does anyone know about the incompatibility issues with virus software and jittering with dual core processors ?
Also on the install, I've heard you don't need to actually install CFS3, but how do you install the OFF super patch and mini patch either OFF or CFS3 If there not installed yet?
Or do you install OFF and then install the super and mini patch?
Did I just answer my own question there? hmmm.

It asks for the CFS3 CD during installation. It only takes a few seconds to copy what it wants and then you go back to the OFF CD.It's all very simple. And yes,you don't have to install CFS3.
You just install the OFF patches afterwards.
Can't help with the dual core question,I don't have one.Never heard about the virus software problem, but it is OK with AVG.

I had to buy the Xplosiv version of CFS3,I couldn't find the Ubi one. It's a pain having to put the CD in all the time, best of luck finding one.

The "jitters" that are causing problems stem from AMD dual core procs. There isn't a problem with Intel.

The DVD is going to be very hard to find, even on ebay. It's value is that you don't have to have the DVD in the drive to start BHaH. CFS3 or CFS3:Battle for Europe are both ok to use. With the CD version, Disc-2 will have to be in the drive to start BHaH.

You can install CFS3 or just pull what's needed from the CD. It's your choice. To make it easier, go here for the full install procedures:

http://www.overflandersfields.com/FAQ.htm

I'm presuming you're running an Intel proc and since you have a 8800GT card, you'll need to really tune or tweak your config and video settings to avoid in-game stutters. Those are usually caused by the game's sliders being set to high and some other factors, but not the Intel proc. Unlike RoF, CFS3 and consequently BHaH utilizes only one core.

Check out the FAQ's on the above link for video card and config tweaks.

Cheers,

The vast majority of well known recognised Anti Virus programs work fine.

The only two anti virus programs with an issue are issues with the AV programs themselves.
They incorrectly detect OFF Manager as a virus. The only ones with the issue were AVG (which is free...) and Avira as far as I know. However AVG (and maybe AVira now too) will have NO problem if you update it to the latest version. So it's pretty much a none issue.

The only other issue we are aware of is MSE which can stop "Hat in the Ring!" expansion download from completing or installing, simply disable temporarily, install, renable should be fine (and possibly may be OK with newer MSE update?).

Two of the AV with issues there are free so maybe not the best to use?
