Excuse me if I asked this before, as im pushing 50, and currently drinking beer.

Can the MemExport feature of this game be utilised for widescreen support with resolutions of 3360x1050 and alike with some aspect control?

LOL dfang smile

OK back on topic. I looked through the link ARNEH posted and came up with this command line-

cohokum /fs:0 /3dw:2560 /3dh:800 /force_resolution

but unfortunatly the game will do a 3D reset if I run it.

I tested a smaller window and dragged it half way across both monitors OK, so in theory if the game would accept the custom resolution you could run widescreen with an MFD export.

I also tried adding custom resolutions via the nvidia control panel. For some reason EECH will only offer resolutions up to 1680x1050 after a game config deletion rather than my GFX card max resoltion of 2560x1050. And it appears not to see the second monitor. Although this could be a Vista issue, or Nvidia driver I guess. That being said though I can run widescreen in DCS.

Colonel,

I think I figured out what is not working in your EECH command line.

I suspect EECH limits the max horz resolution to whatever is the max horz resolution of the individual monitors. Therefore here is how I have managed to start EECH in a three multi monitor setup.

I have two wide screens and one regular monitor, and I was able to succesfully launch eech, windowed, at 2048x480 spanning across the three monitors. the trick is that 2048 happens to be the max horizontal resolution of my widescreen monitors ( report 2048*1536). Anything else I tried beyond 2048, did result in the game to reset the resolution back to 640x480.

Granted I had to force the widescreens to 720x480 using the "list all modes" button in XP display properties) and use a D-SUB (VGA cable) connector instead of the DVI, but it was great to fly multi
monitor for the first time. With AA all the way up, and max quality, it looks pretty good to me.

EECH PRESERVES the correct proportions, unlike EECH2 where everything is stretched out horizontally.
I believe this was introduced in EECH release 1.10 or so. That was a great move.

One more thing... I had to delete the game.cfg a couple times when testing, for eech to accept the new graphic modes.

Sorry if I am going over old ground (and if I have grasped the wrong end of the stick)... but isn't the max width/height of the screen a limitation of Directx 7 that the game uses? Ie it does not support resolutions over 2048 in total? So to run three screens, you can only have a resolution of 640 on each screen?

(Am I making sense? or have I finally slipped into madness?)

If 2048 is the limitation then 1024x768 is what your desktop needs to be setup to fill two monitors

eg: D:\Razorworks\cohokum\cohokum.exe /fs:0 /3dw:2048 /3dh:768 /force_resolution

If I were to persue this futher I would probably setup for a resoltution that filled my primary and about two thirds of my secondary so the hud wasnt split down the middle.

With a three monitor setup it would be 640 as you have correctly stated.

The whole idea is problematic anyhow as I seem to have to continually delete my game.cfg each flight and reseting my res all the times make a mess of the million shortcuts and links on my desktop for various projects. Just buying a larger monitor would be a simpler solution.

Think about it...

2048x480 is a whooping 4:1 aspect ratio. EECH in fact renders with right proportions.
With AA to the max, you don't believe you are looking at 480.
It's a joy to watch, and very nice to fly.

I use two widescreens 16:10 at 768*480 and one 4:3 at 640*480.

------

Amraam ... you are right about directx7 limit.

It's a pitty that EECH2 does not render with proper aspect ratio. EECH2 is DX9(?) based.
I can get it run widescreen&fullscreen with SoftTH but it is badly stretched.
