A new, and unanticipated bonus, is taking me "OFF" the air. Whenever I try campaigns, quick missions, the program warns that it can not find the proper map files and that they are not feeding into CFS3, providing a path thereafter. Of course, the message recommends each time that a reinstall of OFF might be a good idea. I do not think so or want to think so.

Thus I ask the community, in particular father "P", if there is a means to correct this map generation error easily. It would seem not an unusual problem. Besides after experiences with ETO, MAW and PTO, I have found CFS3 a stable platform.....

My suggestion is to just reinstall and see if the problem repeats.

Over the past days.....I did a semi-clean reinstall of CFS3, plus patch updates, reinstalled OFF, reinstalled Super Patch, Mini Patch...and now Hat in the Ring. CFS3 is such a dependable engine...I have reinstalled ETO three times, MAW twice, PTO four times. Mostly due to random file conflicts between the host CFS3 setup and the non-scientific SDK invention addons submitted by players. I am growing suspicious of those I found at CombatACE.

Has anyone found similar issues? Are the campaign/mission addons one must avoid at the cost of another reinstallation......?

I can only comment on bog standard installs - OFF, plus super patch, mini patch and HitR - only my rig they all worked as advertised, without any map issues.

I was chatting to RAF_Louvert over at CA a while back - he's now got OFF in Egypt running through adding MAW files - and he was absolutely insistent that if I was going to do the same, I should have a separate CFS3 install loaded, prior to MAW and the various OFF files needed.

Perhaps you should be thinking about a completely separate install of CFS3 for OFF, and another one for your other WWII add-ons? Might even be worth PMing Lou over at CA for his advice.

Cheers,
Si

Sorry, I do not know Mr. Louvert whom I assume you mean at CA or Combat ACE. I do not think I would have anything of value to say as I have made all the possible mistakes in installing MAW, PTO, ETO, DPC Korea and OFF.

From what I understand in your message, he is correct. One needs a CLEAN CFS3 installation with each CFS3 derivative to have THEM install and launch properly. Of course, this does not elimanate the random SDK errors which surface from user made anythings. I get some hits in DPC, MAW has 26 aircraft or variants duplicated somehow, and with OFF I found a Zepplin redundant.

The CFS3 dervatives do have a tendancy to go stale after a time. That is, if you have not played or even launched them over a period of a week, they can lose their configuration at worst or take a great deal of time to launch after the interim.
I had thought of installing all the derivatives on a newer system, but that action would bring more frustration and pain than benefit.

For me, I reinstalled OFF completely OVER A new CFS3 3.1 install. Next I went through a prolonged patch update through Hat In the Ring. This was first done on a Athlon 3500 or 2.3G single core with a 256M GeForce Nvidia. I next installed it on a companion computer or an Intel dual core 3.3G with a 1M GFTX. This later move to a dual core made a great difference in loading OFF over the single core, much like BOBII 2.10.

My question to Hadrian's Wall: Apart from Combat Ace, where else are there reliable OFF missions and campaigns?
