Outstanding!
Great deal for newer pilots. I know I've gotten my $$$ worth over the last year.
This one is a must get for any flight simmer, and lovers of WW1 biplanes shouldnt even wait for the IC edition to be released. Just get it RIGHT NOW!

Preorder with an $10 markup placed on Amazon.
Well worth the investment just reading how much
fun can be had. BTW, just watched the movie Red Baron on
VUDU in HD and while a syrupy affair the aerial combat
scenes is where it shines.

Jason:

Congratulations! I wish you and the ROF team the very best of luck on the USA ICE release, excellent idea and I hope it brings added revenue in to allow father improvements in ROF including a possible campaign.

I too still have RedBaron II and 3d disks which I modded for everyone years ago. Then Wings of War, which turned out to be limited in what we could do, but is still fun in the instant fly mode, even if quite arcade. Next, was OFF and I'm very proud of how it has improved over the years. The currant version of Between Heaven and Hell and Hat in the Ring have become the best WWI sim experience out there besides Rise Of Flight, each having their strengths and weaknesses, but each being a ball to fly in and enjoy. I was an early purchaser of the prerelease of ROF and eagerly awaited the arrival of the DVD. I've bought about half the planes so far, all Entante, but will get around to trying the German ones eventually. I'm not much of a pilot, but love the graphics and all the effort obviously put into it.

I think what is most impressive is to see a commercial development that hasn't fallen to being bought out by a bigger company and turned into a video arcade version. The only other WWI sim that came close was Flying Corps but they had too many tech problems and it just didn't make it in many ways. The ROF team obviously believes in making the most accurate flight sim they can, just as the OFF team does. I thought only independent modders like the teams working on RedBaron and OFF were capable of this, but I'm glad I was wrong. Please stick with it and thank you for all your efforts!

All the best,

Hello Jason,

Any word on which sellers will have which launch bonuses?

*edit* More specifically: Will the edition available through the Canadian branch of Amazon.ca have a launch bonus?

Best of luck,

Amazon will have the N.17 launch bonus. The D.II was reserved for another retailer, which said they would carry it, but they have not placed an order yet or listed it. So, when/if they decide to carry it they will have the D.II. If that retailer changes their mind I will give it to someone else.

I do not know what the hold up is. The distributor is in charge of that operation.

When I know more I will post it asap.

I have pre ordered with Go-Gamer and am now patiently waiting for the release date. Hope Go gamer receives the boxed version in a timely fashion and is able to ship in good time..

How will I be advised of any or which extra aircraft I am eligible for?

Right now all retailers that have ROFICE listed get the N.17.

Thanks for the reply - this is good news: I've been on the fence about the N.17 as I didn't like it in the last three WW1 sims I've flown. So this way I get to buy another plane as well! So I'm happy at least.

I just did a little more digging and realized i had to cancel my order with GO-Gamer. My graphics card is an NVIDIA 7600gtx with only 256 Meg of ram. After reading about the problems some people have had ,I am afraid ROF ICE would not run smoothly. I have a pentium 3.2 (2) cpu's with 2 gig of ram. I am surprise as I have some fairly Graphic intense Race games and run with 36 cars at times and Also IL2 1946 runs with lots of planes in the air with no problem or stuttering at all.

To Bad .I was looking forward to something a little more sim like than First Eagls and FE2. Although they are both great games.

Sounds like your only weak spot is the graphics card. You can get a Nvidia 250gts 1gb for about $100 or an ATI equivalent is probably even less.

Thanks for the input . I have several sims the are tough to get running like Nascar 2003 and Grand prix legends and they run just fine on my present set up. I am really not intrested in spending $100 for a new card plus +$50 for the ROF and then worry about finding the right drivers for my 7 really good race sims and the present flying games i have installed.

I guess I was kind of hoping that someone would pop in and say they run ROF with a similar set up to mine and it runs fine.

Regards
Pawgy

Any news on what brick and mortar stores will be carrying ICE? I know I can order it online and will, if necessary. But I'd like to walk in and buy from a local store if possible.

Update: Nevermind. I visited the local Fry's and Best Buy and neither had it. I'll just order online.

Fry's will have it soon and Best Buy may have it in July. About 1000 Gamestop stores will also be carrying it and should be on the shelves by next week.

Sorry for the delay, it's not our fault as we have hit all retailers hard to carry it. Some are faster on the draw then others.

777/Neoqb get more money if we order it online from the store, right?

Or does it have to be ONLY brick and mortar stores and/or online retailers?

I'm tempted to buy a second copy...just because. And I have a friend that will be getting it (he's got a mac and has been negligent about getting his system running the programs needed to fly RoF, but he's onboard now).

Hello there Broadside old chap! Looking forward to joining your squadron when I get hold of RoF:ICE smile

By the way, Jason von Williams sir, somewhat related to the question... I hope you don't mind me asking this but could you give us some contact details for Aerosoft please? I tried looking their site up on the web but can't seem to find it! Sorry if I missed something somewhere. I just thought if I dropped them an email asking when I can buy ICE in the UK, it might make them realize there is actually a demand for it! Maybe a few of us could email them too... to perhaps... grease the undercarriage of commerce!? smile

All the best to you Jason and Broadside! cheers

Aerosoft is keenly aware of ROF:ICE and the demand, but they have some issues with retailers they need to sort out first. Eurpoean retail works differently than PC retail. It will get to the UK soon I promise.

I don't have the general email contact for Aerosoft, should be on their website somewhere. I'll have to look for it.

Yes, if you buy a digital copy from us, we do make more money, but we are not offering ICE yet in our store quite yet.

That would be awesome! Any chance that will be very soon? I have a four day weekend (Independence Day) coming up starting tomorrow. I would love to be able to spend some learning the more complex elements of engine management. :-)

I assume, but am not completely sure... Does this new release replace the existing ROF by incorporating ROF and all of its patches plus the new fixes, etc into a completely new CD?

Great? Thanks Jason.

I'll wait to see if they did some work on making the joystick, pedals, power levers setup better.

I had a lots of trouble trying to setup the controls on the original ROF. That and a few other things finely made me put it in the back of the drawer.

my main game is il2, but I would love to do a WW1 sim also.

We changed the joystick setup screen a long time ago. It's no different than any other sim now and you can add joystick curves etc. Don't let whatever you heard in the past spoil your fun. ROF today is nothing like is was a year ago.

Has anybody actually seen ROF-ICE in North America.

I really want to get it but all the download retailers linked from 777 Studio's site have the orginal ROF-TFGAW. Ditto ncix.com (I'm in Canada by the way) and out of the three Wal-Marts I've been to only one had ROF and it was the orginal.

I realize games often take a while to make there way down the supply chain once they've been released but it's been a while now.

Thanks

Amazon Canada

edit- I see it's out of stock there but I'm sure that'll be remedied soon, plus Gamestop has Canadian stores IIRC

More data here if you like.
