I'm hoping that the WOP series will have as long a life as the IL-2 series and the next SOW series.

SOW BOB will have atleast 8 flyable aircraft, and the SOW series won't get old for about 20 years. The developer is already compiling info on the next installment, probably the Med. Also one of the third party developers "Luthier" has already done quite a bit of the work for the Korean installment of the SOW series. With the game engine completed it won't take more than a year or two for each addon.

SOW-Korean Theater 2011-2012
SOW-Mediterranean Theater 2012
SOW-Pacific Theater 2013/14
SOW-Eastern Theater 2015/16
SOW-Western Theater 2017/18
SOW-?
SOW-Combined forces World Theater{Land, Sea, and Air} 2019/2020
SOW-Third Party addons continue thru the life of the sim and beyond

If you look at the footage from the Moscow game show, the SoW billboard featured a scenario called 'Storm of War: Battle for Moscow' which Oleg said would be a future release. Looks like they are going back to their roots, as the first step after BoB.

Playing through the console version again this time. I really love the missions, but I do wish there were more. I understand playing through with the appropriate aircraft on the initial play through, but being able to choose your own plane on subsequent play throughs would go a long way IMO. Some very fun missions, but I'd like to mix it up and not be strictly historically correct. The game has a very nice selection of planes, I want to put them to more use. The trainer is nice, but I enjoy the missions.

All this game needs is a mission editor to make me happy. Seems like such a small thing.
I want to jump into the game, Give my flight some Mustangs, the freindly flight some B-17s, and the enemy flight some 190's, 109's or both....and go at it. Would be great. Pick Berlin as the map, and WOW!
Give me that, and this may still keep my interest for a while. Like I said, seems like something that could be so easy to fix.
Too bad some talented modder can't get into the code and do it.

Has there been any official update on the status of a sequel? I hope they didn't just drop the ball and decide it wasn't worth the effort. They could make a lot of money if they added in a Mission editor and a dynamic campaign.
