Just a heads up guys for anyone still interested in B-17, if any have not downloaded and saved B-17 mods and tutorials to disk you might want to do so now. Some of the sites that had mods or tutorials are going 404, Bombs Away site is apparently off the air (might be under construction?) as are most of the tutorials at Doc's v7th site. Some downloads appear still active there, but the tutorials are a big loss (like how to replace the in game nose art, in game bomber names and a ton of other stuff). Also the recently started v8th page looks down too. Joels site, Blimys and a few of the links you can find there are still active for finding downloads.

Vox can you shed some light on this?
Cheers

Bombs Away was moved to:
http://www.bombs-away.net/forums/index.php
Thanks to Darren for keeping the BA forum alive.

Doc's site seems to be working here:
http://glewis.us/v7th_Recon/helplinks.htm

I would agree that archiving mods etc is a good idea because these sites may not be around forever.

Well the game is really old now so sadly I think it will lose its players. Too bad the rereales of this great game got cancelled.

Thanks Vox for the redirect on the BA site, but Doc's site while still up is giving 404 errors (at least for me) when I click on any tutorial there confused I had to do a reinstall and am now just getting to the part of changing the in game nose art and renaming the bombers. I have the tutorial for how to change the in game nose art but not the tutorial for changing the in game bomber names.
cheers

Godzilla, I see what you mean now. Those links pointing to the old forum don't work.

Sounds like a ambitious hex-editing project. I don't remember doing that myself. However, I do have some old notes from the old forum that may help you. PM me your e-mail and I'll send.

Thanks Vox will do thumbsup I have been away from playing B-17II for sometime (have been on an armor/naval kick). I had all the patches and mods installed previously but for some reason when I fired B-17 II up earlier this week it wouldn't start confused. I had to do a reinstall and lost everything. I had all the mods saved to disk and a few tutorials, but the one to change in game bomber names is the one I apparently didn't save. I did find a thread on the new Bombs Away site where Doc does talk about how to do it, but it seems a little less detailed from what I remember of his tutorial at the v7th site. I never did this mod on B-17 II before so wish me luck biggrin
cheers

Good News. Doc is aware of the problem and is planning to update the broken links on his site.
Thanks Doc! thumbsup
