I recently just finished playing Gunship 2000 and have just started Longbow 2. However the manual does not clarify how scoring system works. So does anyone know the following:

1.Does too much time on the battlefield decrease my final score, like in GS2000
2.If I fly a mission and crash, do I get penalised if I re-fly the mission, or do I need to backup and reload my roster.
3.Does campaign missions give a higher score than single missions (if so how much).
4.Do the pilots in my team increase in skill over the course of time and if so how.
5.Do the choice of weapons affect score.
6.Does every realism setting increase score.

Thanks in advance

1)No, but every time you land at a FARP to refuel, points are subtracted.
2)No
3)I don't think so
4)YES (and you can see that reflected by a number next to their name..and there are utilities that you can cheat with and boost their experience (LIKE GS2K!!) They and you get points for successful missions, length of time your pilot stays alive, Flight hours, weapons efficiency, Kills etc..
5)No
6)YES. The realism modifier is 1.0 for EXPERT (or CUSTOM with all options) 0.86 for ADVANCED and 0.66 for SIMPLE modes. They are broken out as well dependent on the many options you can choose for Flight Model, Landing difficulty, Enemy quality etc...

Score is pretty much based on how many targets you take out and their values. (e.g. SAMs and HELOS and Fast Movers are very high value targets).

You get points for everything you AND your wingman destroy.

Forumula is: (Kill Points x RM x FM x EM x LM xSM) + Bonus Points)/Number of FARP landings

RM= Reality Modifier
FM= Flight Model Modifier
EM= Enemy Modifier
LM= Landing Modifier
SM= Success Modifier (how many PRimary/Secondary targets you kill)
Bonus Points - for successful completion of Prim/Sec objectives at SUCCESS or SUCCESS+ Levels

I have the strategy guide smile

simfan2000 - Hi, I see you also asked here what you sent me an e-mail about.

Recluse - Good to 'see' you on here, and you were able to give simfan2000 a bit more detail that I was on question 6. Thanks. Yeah I have the strategy guide also, but couldn't be arsed to get it out. smile

Thanks for your help, I have a couple more questions:

When starting the campaign i am given the option of campaign length: two, three, four weeks or unlimited.

The manual states "the amount of time you are given to successfully complete the campaign".

1.Do you get any bonus for completing the campaign early, or at least choosing to complete the campaign in a shorter time?

2.What constitutes a week?

thx.

I'll pull out the old Strategy Guide tonight to confirm...but I don't think the scoring changes for the campaign length other than that you may fly more missions in a longer campaign and rack up a better score. I believe that you fly 1 mission per day, so a week would be 7 missions. I definitely need to refer to the strat guide for this as I never gave it any thought. You can figure it out by looking at the Briefings for each mission as they will give the date on which that mission is taking place and you can see how much time elapses between missions.

Honestly I never paid attention to overall scores much other than as it related to promotions and medals. I really really missed the immersion of Gunship2000 where you could reward your squadmates with medals and promotions based on your assessment... I really felt like I knew those guys and could see them improve and it really hurt to lose them. In LB2, the AI are pretty much interchangeable despite the experience points gained.

The LB2 wingman was best used as a Hellfire Truck "Attack my target, Attack my PFZ" from a safe distance to rack up kills or clear out lower value targets while you saved your ordnance for the tough jobs.
