Hi guys! ^_^, i installed the 1.13 upgrade and i noticed some changes of importance like:
Apparent modified and/or re arranged settings on EECH.ini
The installer overwrites a lot of config files like forms, formcomp and others without warning (luckily i had backups :P)
Modifications and re arrangements of the information found on the GWUT that is not documented on the readme, that represents a setback for me, as i had made important changes to my GWUT file and now i have to merge them with the new GWUT without knowing the new values and parameters :S
Otherwise i LOOOOOVE the viper XD and the simulation is running good on my computer so far, but i think i have to make more tests (just to be sure).
Is there any way for me to obtain the necessary documentation on the new changes that i mentioned before?.
Thank you! ^_^

*****UPDATE*****

*****UPDATE*****

I just find out that there is a new pilot file called "playersv" (previously was players2), i replaced it with my previous players file but nothing happened and there were no pilots to select, i backed it up and deleted it and now it seems to work normally, but the only pilot is "Razorworks".
Again, this was not documented not in the readme and/or the forums.

*****UPDATE*****

The following error happens when i try to fly on my campaign:

************************************ FATAL ***********************************
FILE_TAG: unrecognised tag END

However, after searching trough FORMS, FORMCOMP and the campaign files, i could not find such "tag" O_o?, there were other errors as well but those were related to different unit counts and fewer landing spots on the carriers, so i corrected them.

*****UPDATE*****

New crash, i still can not fly my campaign, and i need to edit the position and quantities of the landing spots of the carriers but i am not able to find the values :S, did someone remember that?

Not entirely, i have solved most of the crashes, they were related to the GWUT file and differences between "old" and "new" GWUTs, so i started to mess around until i solved them by trial and error, i also learned some of the new differences on the GWUT files.
The problem with the pilot info is still on and the only way to "solve" it was to delete my pilot.bin and then create a new one, but all my progress and achievements have been lost.....
I am now in the process of integrate my modifications to the new GWUT file, and i must warn you that the problem with the OpenAL vs. DirectSound is on again, i think that a version that let you choose to use OpenAl OR Directsound needs to be developed.
If you have any more questions just let me know! ^_^

Well guys i would like to know YOUR experiences with this new patch is possible please, i think that would help to determine the proper way to handle with the problems that might surge...
As for me, i have this conclusions:
Pre 1.13 saved pilot info is NOT compatible with 1.13
Pre 1.13 GWUT files are NOT compatible unless you "upgrade" them
Some custom scenarios, campaigns and skirmishes may need to be updated
A FULL back-up is necessary before installing 1.13, i guess until a patch version is available
The problem that i had with the sound (engines and ambient sounds not looping properly) is back, i guess because this new version is OpenAL only.
Now for the GWUT, i discovered that the most important cause of incompatibility is of course the addition of the AH-1Z, that is not much of a problem as it is very easy to add it, other things includes small and not so small changes in some variables that apparently are redundant in the GWUT now, and of course the fact that some values are more accurate that in previous versions.
Well i hope that somebody can find this useful :P, i would like to know your opinions and findings! ^_^

1.13's, Pre-1.13's and pre-pre-1.13's pilots info is stored in the different files. If you have problems with 1.13's pilot info, I expect you had problems switching from pre-pre-1.13 to pre-1.13.

I doubt it. Values of 1130 and 1120 are the same. Two things were changed in 1130 - Viper has been added and unused weapons indices have been replaced with spaces.

All of the custom maps were tested before the release. Please say what exactly "may need to be updated".

None of the previous updates made a backup of the installed version. The only file was saved in the backup directory is "cohokum.exe".
"FULL back-up" is a normal and expected behaviour before any major change of any application.

No doubts. You can create and share a DirectSound version without any problems.
You can modify the installer to choose between versions and share it.
Everything is in your hands.

I doubt there are "incompability" changes in the GWUT file. Everything is backward compatible.

Really I don't understand the majority of the "problems" you posted here. I believe supplying of _much_ bigger amount of information may illuminate them.

It's in the thread titled AH1-Z VIPER of course! Where else would it be? wink

For those keeping track, that thread title isn't all that helpful. Just sayin'.

With the new canopy_sounds_amp tweaks that Colonel_Kurtz did up that Firebird apparently implemented in 1.13 I noticed an audible pop in the loop of the internal turbine audio loops. A lot of the helos in the game (all except for the Hind, apparently) use this same sound. However, I can still hear a pop in the Hind as well, so I am thinking it isn't a problem with the sound, but how the sound is looped in the engine.

I don't really want to install back to 1.12.1 to see if it was due to the OpenAL.

Is anyone else hearing this pop? The sound is about 6 seconds long or so.

I had problems with the HARDWARE AL sound option, my onboard '97 soundchip not being up to this or so (this was in v 1.12.3, I still use software option).
Did you also try 'software' in the Options-Sound in v 1.13 ?
