Yeah, I think the developers were getting a bit carried away with "big future" plans and promises, and the game simply ended up being a port of xbox's BoP, something that was certainly not promised;) haha

I'm surprised they (allegedly) had so much problems with updating AI to work in missions editor- it is very similar to IL2's, down to endless defensive barrel rolls. Certainly looked lifted straight from IL2 together with FM... And yet its one of the main reason that the FMB is abandoned now for wop...

Oh well:) Just hope for sequel to have more beautiful maps (Afrika!), immersive campaigns and with added improved DM and tuned FM it could relieve us from monotony of English fields and meadows in (by then released) SoW (hm... not sure i believe that myself -SoW gonna rule the world with its physics and immersion:)

I have read many comments and made one or two but here's another for thought:

I don't think it's a lot unlike IL2s development, but this time (IMHO) and I repeat what I stated at an earlier time on SimHQ - this is a beta test bed for Storm of War. I feel (although and despite all iterations being considered "a good game"!) that unlike IL2s more natural progression the same process still took place.

This development is being "eked out" and drip fed until SOW is fully ready for release. It's a funny old thing both Gajin and 1c co-operated to such an extent. Perhaps the developers might like to comment but I have my opinion and time will tell.
Also the slightly "tamer" DRM is being fielded and so far enough consumers have accepted it. Not contraversial as I am not saying whether I agree or not - just stating an opinion on marketing.

I won't purchase this product until I see what the developers next step is. i.e. the one after
they have released WoP (Beta?) version 2! A mission builder would be excellent but this carrot is tied to an increase in required resources to run (maybe nearer to SoW standards - Perhaps??).

Anyway chaps just some thoughts so don't shoot me as I said I've got cynical over the years and I'd love to see myself proven wrong. Well see.

All the Best - Mort

It may be worth the money in it's current form, but that doesn't excuse the fact that people bought it on the promise of contiuned updates and support for the original WoP, a mission builder and dedicated servers being something that was said was in development a long time ago, now they tell us that we need to buy the sequel for those things, that is NOT supporting the original WoP as previously mentioned.

Yeah Dano.. but I think that what happened was that they realized that they could not do the upgrades without radically changing the code.. sort of like the IL2---> Forgotten Battles upgrade if you go back that far. I understand that scenario. We shall see. I will continue to support the sim.. and IMO if they were smart they would offer a sliding discount say of 20-50% for people who have already bought content for WoP considering the way this all developed. That would go a long way towards easing some of the gripes that many have. IL2 was pretty well supported before FB came out and it had all the features that WoP current;y lacks. If it did not we probably wouldn't be flying it today.

I won't buy it either unless it contains the mission builder, missions, campaigns, more planes, more cockpits, and better tuned FM and DM. The Force Feedback needs to be implemented much better.

I passed on the Luftwaffle update, it's simply not worth the price of admission. I work hard for my money and don't like to waste it.

ditto

this sim has such great potential, but still no snapviews, a weird user interface, and huge software addons that won't work unless paid for...

big disappointment from such an incredible game engine.

OK, I see some greed in action. I spent 40 bucks on WOP expecting some updates. There better be a BIG discount for us suckers who bought WOP and made the "sequel" possible.

And whats this BS about a mission editor requiring changes to the Flight Models...BS detectors are on full REd alert...or is it Brown Alert?
