As I said in PM, I do not have time to learn bits of the code.
I have a bit of time, do you still need help with the train code?

Hi Allen.

As you know I've been out of the loop all this week, but As Ray and Pobs are doing a total revamp of the European Theater, it seemed to be the perfect time to fix the rail code, so we can have proper double track railways, as most of Europe was in the 1940's.

The other bug was, when a target train reaches the terminus, it re spawns, exits the station, and immediately returns back on it's self. The train should enter the terminus, and then re spawn some distance from the player, traveling to the terminus again.

Actually it should stop at the station, unload the troops, empty it,s wagons, then new passengers should alight, the wagons restocked, the boilers refilled with water and then having hot girlfriends run down the platform waving to their partners inside when it leaves for the next station..."Tickets please" clapping
I hope we get cities with realistic shunting yards, multitracks, workshops the who shebang.Makes tactical bombing a whole lot better smile

Hi,

can I perhaps clarify the current behaviour. When a train reaches a station it disappears and then reappears at the final node in the railtrack before the station and repeats the approach indefinitely until attacked. this wasn't such a problem in the original game because the tracks are crudely built and the nearest node was often miles from the station, but with SAW and with the new ETO railways it may only be a few hundred yards away, which leads to the unedifying sight of a train with its tail entering a station and its engine reappearing and overlapping the last wagons on the same track section. I can see no real reason not to let the train just stand at the station once it has arrived personally, or even to allow a gap then have it return along the track in the opposite direction, but perhaps it would be nice to hear from people what the general view is on what is best here ?

the intention of the original programmers of course was to ensure that there was a moving train to attack however long the player took to get to the site, is that necessary do we think ?....

cheers,

Pobs

I agree better to let the train rest at the station than repeat.

(Although I had noticed it and intended to exploit it by changing the train for landing barges for my beachead scenario, but that project is currently shelved)
