....I mean a REAL sim?
Not much, I would think. I was flying some Battle Of Britain missions last night, and really enjoying it.
Then, the immersion killing ,"You have not completed the mission," text comes across the screen. Or, you have run out of time, and then it stops.
I'd like to stay in the mission until I run out of fuel or ammo. Then head back to the field. Take off from the airfield, fly the mission, and return. That's all I would need for this to be a sim, for me.
Once I land, if the game wants to tell me that I haven't completed all of my assignments, that would be fine.
Wouldn't be hard to implement, I would think. My only reasoning, as to why they don't, is that the maps aren't all that large. They want to keep you in the part where the action is. Don't want you wandering about and flying off the map.
Some 8th Air Force missions would be great, too. Escorting B-17s to Berlin in my Mustang would be an exciting mission, in here. Even if they are airstarts.
Maybe they'll think about it.

I second these suggestions. WoP is just a so-so sim with great scenery and simi-good combat.........for me. It is unfinished is the way I would comment on it. I especially felt bad when I trid jumping into a German plane and found that I had to buy and intall the German side of the war..........bad! But then I did not expect much when I installed it and had fun for awhile flying it, but now only fly it when I need a little something different than IL-2, RoF, BoB2, OFF and FSX. Must admit that 80% of my sim time is with RoF where the real challenge lies for now.......and again, for me. I certainly will not spend more money on WoP until some changes are made.

This is why we all want a FMB, That will enable us to do all these things. I know the FMB is coming and that is why I have supported this game, with a wallet breaking $15 for the DLC.
I personally think its a small price to pay in order to give the Dev's support for their continued work on the FMB.

We just don't have enough Combat Flight Sims out there.
The fact is that we are a SUPER small nitch market. In todays world the only way we can get any new Combat Flight Sims, is for a DEV team to create one and then when they run out of money , they sell add-ons to make more funds to complete the Sim. I mean this is what we have seen this market become.
I honestly think that if people don't understand that, then our nitch market will get smaller and smaller.
I am personally not going sit by and watch that happen.
Combat flight sims are the only thing I Love to do as a in house hobby.
I mean, people spend $40 on one round of golf (18 holes) and that is over and done in a day ! Its $20 to go and see a new movie.

I agree with all your sentiments , but the fact is we dont know a mission builder is coming, nor do we know if the product even has any dev support anymore.. It really is a pity they can not even be bothered to post on there own yuplay forum anymore or the gaijin russian language forum. Cynically the planned ideas list is starting to look a little like a marketing ploy to get "on the fence" people to commit and buy to squeeze the last few coins out of the product. I hope I'm wrong but with each passing week of silence its hard to see anything other than dev abandonment.

Last I saw Anton stated very clearly that the FMB was in production, that was a while ago.
If you can post a quote from him that says other wise, I'd love to see that because maybe I missed it, because I was busy working.
I have been dealing with Anton for over a year now and He has never once not done what he has said.
I don't care what others say but I take him at his word and his record has been 100%, he has backed up everything he has said.
He even went so far as to pay for the BOP patch for the ps3 out of his very own pocket , because 505 games (The Publisher) screwed over the community. Now how many Ceo's of a DEV house have you ever seen do that ?

Untill he says that things have changed and that the FMB in now not being made,he has my support because he has always been a man of his word.

I'm really looking forward to FMB. Ground attack is my favourite, and I want to set up my own (withOUT a timer!).

My concern is that once SoW is released the pool of potential users will be depleted a bit.. especially if there is no MB/Editor or customizations by then. From my understanding and what I know from experience about 1C SoW will have the graphics of WoP at least if not better.. and be scalable and able to run in DX 9,10or11 with all the best eye candy from either one.. Gaijin needs to strike while the iron is hot and at least have a more solid base of users.. rignht now many are turned off by the sims flaws to te point where they wont even give it a try.. if it had a MB/E & customizations at least I guarantee that more would get on board with it and it's user base would explode.

The clunky activation/connection issue is a pain too.. but it is a good product. I just hope they don't blow it. I am still having issues connecting... after having beenh connected and DLd & installed the WoL add on & the P-40. I got my disk before Jason started selling it otherwise I would have gotten it from him, but the thing leeps telling me to activate it so I did that twice already and still cant get in. But it is wierd because sometimes I can get in..

I agree. There seems little point without a mission editor. Hopefully they'll pull through.

I think its pretty bad timing and an odd marketing plan (especially as they admit to a loss on WOP)on there point .. Most people will probably have got all they need buy then from BoB SOW unless it turns to vapourware

Ighten, I see your point, but WoP (and it's sequel, presumably) are compatible with modest computers. I would rather pay extra for a WoPII, if it provides mission builder, customisation etc. than have to spend a small fortune on a super-pc to play SoW, no matter how good it is. Of course we may never see either the sequel or SoW, but hopefully, for all our sakes we'll have the choice of both.

The timer is so irritating. And the sequel better introduce a huge discount to all the poor suckers like me who bought WOP expecting some support.

All I can say is, why don't any American companies release a decent flight sim ?

Or are they just as greedy and conniving (admin edit)

IL-2 pissed me off when they charged us big bucks for each new update, then released the whole package for 1/5 the cost that us Suckers paid.

I may wait until this company inevitably does the same 3-5 years from now.

I stopped playing this game because of the stupid time limit

plus it has only a few missions + a boring training mode (i dont play online)

The flight and ballistic models did it for me. After flying DCS and especially ROF lately WOP's fm just feel a bit too odd. The terrain and cockpits are very lovely though.

I don't mind paying for extra stuff, Maddox, ED, Gaijun, Neoqb are all small teams trying to produce stuff in a niche genre that I enjoy. If they produce quality stuff I'm happy to support them, and I do regard WOP as a good product I just prefer ROF.
