Cannot get TrackIR to work in newly DVD installed WoP. Have new TrackIR update and menu shows WoP as supported. Cannot get Saitek X45 controllers to work. In devices menu, clicked on X45 and nothing happens. What should happen next? In Tutorials....... any that show outside view of AC, it is shiny and so reflective that it is hardly viewable. I have spent most of this day trying to get this sucker to fly with no joy and am about to shelf it and take the $40 loss. Unhappy, Badbud www.simflite.com

hey neighbor
don't give up, Alpine....open 'options' 'controls' 'devices' ingame
select the x-45 profile - they call it 'select layout'
now just double click on the first option for input...I think it is 'ailerons' ? but whatever
once you double click to activate the selection window..just move the joystick to acquire the setting until the sim recognizes your inputs...thats it
then set all the other control axes the same way - save and fly
note - If the x-45 profile is not working then try them all until you find one that does note - you need to scroll through all of the options in the devices pane as there is a place to indicate whether you have a flightstick throttle (as on my Sidewinder) or a seperate throttle control

Does not work for me. When I select X45, nothing happens......no options or anything. Click anywhere and goes back to Devices menu and says "no joystick settings (default)". BadBud www.simflite.com

Here is what I have tried: I select "Devices", menu with Aileron Axis not Assigned, Elevator Axis not Assigned, and so on comes up. I click on "Select Layout", menu that says.. "Are you sure you want to reset controls settings?" Select Layout > No Joystick Settings (Default) Yes Back I click on "No Joystick Settings (Default) and menu list of Controllers comes up and I click Saitek X-45 and nothing happens. (And I have clicked on all the different controllers with the same results............nothing. Clicking on "Yes" takes you back to the Aileron/Elevator axis and so on menu to start the same process over with same, no results. Thanks for the response, BadBud www.simflite.com

hmmm..can you skip the select layout step and simply double click on the 'aileron axis' selector?
it seems to me that when I was trying to get my sidewinder to work - the sidewinder layout was faulty in that the axes didn't mesh properly - and I had to invert the throttle - so I tried some other profiles and some of them had functionality with my sidewinder..

I click on "No Joystick Settings (Default) and menu list of Controllers comes up and I click Saitek X-45 and nothing happens. (And I have clicked on all the different controllers with the same results............nothing. at this point - double click on the 'aileron axis' in the area where the assignment should appear...see if that works.

Double clicking got me there. Was able to get ailerons, elevators, throttle and rudder peddals working, but am having no luck in setting controller buttons. For example: I double clicked on guns, selected modify and set button and clicked Apply and it will not apply and move on. Still have not been able to rid the AC views of the stary reflections that I see on all the AC. Tried all the upfront settings with no joy. Sure wish that there were proper instructions with this sim or am I missing something here? BadBud www.simflite.com

not sure what you mean by 'stary' reflections...can you post a screenshot please ?
glad you were able to get the flight controls working...
for other settings like weapons - make sure you are in the first column and that no other commands for the guns are active...there can only be one command.

I never see anyone online like I did before 1032 so I am about to shelve the game.

"Stary" meaning like a big twinking star on planes in front of cockpit view and huge stary/bright reflections off my plane in external view. When you say "first column", in what menu do you mean? In the flight Controls menu? Or Key mapping? Thanks for all your help. BadBud www.simflite.com

I guess that was what I was trying to say - no need to do the 'stick profile'...just double click on the assignment line (be it ailerons, or elevators' or rudder etc... and assign an input axis)
Thanks for posting the setup vids Jason... that should help us pilgrims a little

as far as the 'stary reflections' are concerned - it sounds like an over zealous 'bloom' effect..?
It might help to see it in a screenshot - or - you might try adjusting your vid card 'gamma' and also 'contrast' settings : ie: reduce them a little one at a time and test to see if thats it...

Got everything working with help from all of you and sim flys well (could have used the two vids from Jason earlier and saved all my trial and error experience). I still have very bad graphics that include the twinkling star effect on all planes and really bad white reflection of my plane in external view. Scenery is good sometimes, moddled and blockish at other times. The graphics problem is a show-stopper and if I cannot find a fix for it, Wop is gone sorry to say. My PC specs are well within the minimum requirement of WoP and graphics card is an nVidia 7800GTX running on an Athlon 4800+ duel core with 2Gs of ram. Hoping for some resolve with my graphics problem, BadBud www.simflite.com

the effects you are seeing might be a simple vid driver issue....
some of the latest nvidia drivers have had a wonky affect on older - pre 8800 series cards...
you might roll back to the 186.XX or thereabouts to see if it helps - or reinstall your current drivers per the nvidia driver page directions...

Nice vids Jason . Mind if I link to/embed them in the Joystick Guide? P.S. Couldn't send a PM, message limit reached.

Above him were seraphim, each with six wings: With two wings they covered their faces, with two they covered their feet, and with two they were flying.

Went to nVidia site and checked to update drivers for my 7 series/XP (780GTX) graphics card and was recommended download of 197.45. Any comments on these drivers in use with WoP or any other flight sims (IL-2, FSX, BoB2, CFS3, OFF, RoF). Thanks, BadBud www.simflite.com
