Well here's my first awkward attempt at a RoF Video. It's been an interesting week since the install but I'm happy to report everything's running just fine but there is much to learn. Thanks go to knightgames for giving me some operating tips for the tracking system !

Hope you enjoy it.

Nice vid mate with some good angles.....If you have just started out then you are not bloody bad at all, a lot better than me after the first week! (Landings need a bit work though....lol smile ).

Tip for when you are bombing those trains, drop the bombs a lot further in front than you would think....take into account the speed its travelling. Ye gave it some hell though. Smile2 Nice flying under the bridges too! thumbsup

Thanks guys. Appreciate the feedback and tips. Yes, I love the great camera angles you can get. And yes the landing is a shocker (my 2nd attempt after killing myself the first time lol) but I thought that portrays the danger to novice pilots, (surely more were killed by accidents than in combat) so I left it in. I said it was a shaky start ! In fact all my flying in this vid is a bit flaky lol.

One thing that I find a bit odd is the elevator up attitude of the Se5a always pushing its nose up. I know it's been discussed before in other threads but I didn't pay much attention. Is it so you are kind of forced to use trim like the real kite ? How do you do it ?

In any event, it sure makes flying it a real adventure with lots of forward stick otherwise .... welcome to stallsville ! The FM is very unforgiving .... as it should be.

@catch,

See this thread for some insight regarding adjusting for a more neutral trim (if desired):

Thanks Hedgehog. That's the ticket ! I also saw a specific thread on the SE over at the RoF site so it's all good Smile2 I like the way you can tailor all your aircraft to a specific response setting. Pretty cool.

Now I know some newbs have trouble getting the JS controls to stick. It can be a bit fiddly for the uninitiated I admit but quite logical after the event lol (always the case eh). I reset all my flight controls last night because the Spad13 had a real twitchy yaw that made it very difficult to line up a target. Looking from behind in external view before take off I saw that just touching the stick extremely lightly .... like a woman's caress ....(but not twisting) would send the rudder into spasms. Okay that's a problem.

So I go to "control", reset all flight controls and throttle by double clicking and applying the stick and throttle movements. When finished, save, then input what file you want to call it, then hit ok. Then go to "responses" and check they work. If any controls are reversed, go back to "control" and check/uncheck "invert", whatever applies . Save as file name. Go back to "responses" and if it all works correctly, save as the same file name. Then go back to "game" (I think, haven't got it in front of me) and save there again. This will bump you back to the main menu.

Now as to the extremely twitchy yaw issue I had, I noticed in "responses" I had yaw set down twice ? Using the "remove" function made no difference and there was still two ? So back to "control" and I see I have the yaw set up to the JS twice in the left and middle columns. I reset the middle column to an obscure key command (Y + UP) so only the JS command was evident in the primary column (left). Save ! Then back to "responses" and bingo, yaw only appears once ! Check it works as it should .... and save !

And now the Spad is controllable ! I presume having yaw linked to my JS twice produced some sort of conflict resulting in a very twitchy rudder. Problem solved. See how easy it is ! Hope this may help some of the newbies out there.

Now, last question on the flight recorder. After viewing a flight record, is there a way to go back directly to your other flight records instead of having to go all the way back to the main menu and then getting into flight records again ? Not a big deal but slightly annoying. I saw a post over at the RoF site asking the same question but it was never answered.

No option like that, you need to go back to the main menu to select another track.

I had a feeling that was the case. Maybe Neoqb will look at reducing some of the backout steps one day. Thanks for the confirmation mate Smile2
