so i freshly installed falcon 4.0 + superpak4 + superpak4.2 and the game ran great!!! I just did a quick TE basic handling to test it out. Afterwards, i installed BMS 2.0 + 4.2 data fix and running from BMS 2.0.exe the UI loads and then instantly crashes to the desktop. "crashlog says access violation". Anyone know what this is caused by? Do i have something set wrong in the bms-config area possibly? Can i revert back to superpak 4.2 by running from that .exe? HELP!

SP and BMS are pretty much outdated now, why don't you try Open Falcon or FreeFalcon? Either way though, sorry, don't know about your problem.

Possible cause of the crash can be anything.
Unfortunately, there's no rolling back or reverting to the pre-patched configuration. Dance with smile.

BTW, what might possibly have led you to dig out the out dated version of the present Open Falcon, I wonder...No need to answer though...

Im running a low end machine, thats why. I re-did the dance last night and all is good. Im pretty sure open falcon and free falcon are to graphically intensive on my machine. The newest versions at least. What about the older ones maybe? And whats so wrong with the superpaks? They run really smooth without the hi-tiles installed on my system. Guess im just an old schooler frown

I remember the other thread in which you were asking which version to get. Admittedly your specs where somewhat low, but I think you should at least try them out, if they don't run then fine, otherwise you might be missing out wink

AF started off from the latest SP then. Therefore it will be safe to say AF is an improved version of SP and is as stable and low end machine friendly as any of today's game of the genre can be.

Personally, I haven't had extensive flight time out of BMS due to its instability with on-line MP environment.

All told, it's your decision and I am not saying SP4 should be in a museum. However, if you can't resist the eye candy stuffs BMS then had, you'd better be prepared to do the Falcon dance any time.

My 2 cents.

Personally I prefered bms2 to AF. AF broke the GBU and never really fixed it in patches its still innacurate.

I like the crash prone FF5. THose crashes get boring quick though. I remember the old days of bms2 as being my happiest Falcon times.
