Spartacus "Sparky" 3/94 - 3/15/2010

He was 16, diabetic, very sweet old cat. Have lost another cat, Icky, Sparky's brother or half brother, 9 years ago from fatty liver disease. We lost our boston terrier, Hamlet, 4 years ago. It doesn't get any easier the 3rd time around.

We currently have another boston terrier, Bruno and a black cat, Romeo, or Romo as I usually call him, I suppose in unofficial honor of Romo Lampkin.

Sparky absolutely loved dairy products, any sort of cheese or vanilla ice cream he would go nuts for. I'll miss our late-night fridge-raids together frown ...though I only gave him tiny amounts, too much salt in cheese.

Sparky

Bruno

Romeo "Romo"

That is tough. I had to do the same with my cat last year. He looked like your black cat. My cat reached 21 years of age when his hips gave out.

21 is pretty darned old for a cat! I guess average is anywhere from 14-17, anything above that is unusual.

Gaius is a pretty good name for a cat, he's got some cat-like qualities.

I'm feeling OK now, the lead up to it was pretty terrible. He's got a nice resting spot under our olive tree.

My cat is in the back yard. A little shady spot in the corner of the yard. Every time I cut the grass, I say hello to the little fella.

Ah, man...I'm sorry. We've got a 12-year-old Maine Coon fluffball named Hershey. The day she dies...well, you'll probably have to fold me up in there with her.

Harry, so sorry to hear about your loss. You have beautiful animals, and I bet very good friends. Tough to say goodbye, especially after so long. 16 years is a good lifetime, but I know too well it doesn't feel that way when you have to let them go. Take care of yourself.

Sorry to hear that. The cats that we had when I lived with my parents are getting pretty old, something like 15, 16, and 17 IIRC. They are all doing well for being so old but i know it won't be too long before one of them gets sick and has to be put to sleep.

Thanks all. Tonight I stepped out back and looked up. Directly overhead, on a clear beautiful evening was Leo, the Lion, blazing gloriously.

I'm sorry to hear that Harry. At least you have some other critters to love. I'm down to one cat, from 2 dogs and 2 cats several years ago. I still miss my Tigger, the tabby that passed away in January. I don't know what we'll do when we lose Rhianna, the sole survivor.

Thanks again, he was a very special cat. He was rather headstrong and had a very strong personality, not in a 'catty' fickle kind of way, but he liked to feel like he was in charge, and had a very dignified bearing, so he was rather lion-like. Our two black cats were/are pretty laid back by comparison.

Sparky about age 6

This is Hamlet who passed in 2006, he had some sort of degenerative joint disease, this was him in his prime, when he was 3 or 4. Like all bostons he was extremely silly, playful and loved to play soccer.

I don't have any digital pictures of Icarus, they are all on printed photos, have to scan some in sometime.

You're welcome Harry. Could it have been the Lionshead nebula instead? wink
