@Ed_1:

I've been hearing rumors that Lead Pursuit has quit developing their follow-on sim to Falcon 4.0: Allied Force. Is this true or false?

The website hasn't been updated since January 1st, 2009. I emailed the company at the website about this matter about a week ago but to date have received no answer.

I've also been hearing rumors that Lead Pursuit has also ceased to exist, for all intents and purposes, as a company because most of the individuals that were in it have moved on. Is this true or false?

I've seen some advertisements on the web for Joel Bierling and another guy (I can't remember his name) were looking for jobs. These advertisements tend to substantiate the rumors. Can we please get a direct reply for once on these matters so we know if the project is dead or not?

Thanks.

My understanding was that AF (or the follow-on) was never a full-time gig for any of these guys.

You should check out Fighterops; their last update was on the 18th of January regarding their documentation. Here's the documentation on their documentation - http://www.fighterops.com/forum/showthread.php?t=9980

C3P0 left LP over a year ago, maybe two? Where's Frugs (search) when you need it?

I wouldn't worry too much until LP's website disappears. I consider them geniuses, to get the campaign so stable (even if I still get convoys crossing my runways, ships on land (this happened only once) and an occasional MiG-21 joyriding along the grassy fields outside my airbase perimeter fence). Some strange things for sure, sometimes brought on by using too much time acceleration (shame on me).

But it works and is stable, I would consider this a miracle!

I'm still counting on the next sim I'll want to spend the next 10+ years on will be from LP. They made F4 stable, I think they can do just about anything.

Gotta say, Fighterops appears to be vaporware, posts notwithstanding.

Hehe...agreed. Six years in development and still nothing out. OTOH, I wish them well and hope some day they can put something out because we sure could use a new, modern combat simulator. I took one look at FSX, CFS3 and IL-2: 1946 and found no interest. Give me my modern F-16, stable multiplayer and a dynamic campaign and I will buy it (probably multiple copies for all my kids too! wink )

BTW, here's the stuff on Joel Bierling advertising his resume: http://www.bierling.net/pages/resume/resumefront.htm

For those who don't know who Joel Bierling is...He is/was co-owner of Lead Pursuit and executive producer for Falcon 4.0:Allied Force.

Did people pay Fighter Ops as part of some early sign up deal?

As for convoys crossing the runway, if they've got to get to the bad guys I don't really mind. And they seem to yeild to you as you're taking off. That's fun.

I don't think FO is vapor. I think they set the bar very high for what they wanted to accomplish with it and they're a part-time team that all have day jobs. Apparently the US military has invested a good deal of money in the project so I wouldn't be surprised if they ended up making a product which is both a serious training tool for them and a retail study sim at the same time. What they're trying to do takes a long time. Esp given the full training program they want in the sim, etc. Who knows if/when we'll see FO, but I wouldn't just dismiss it as vapor. I think they have a real product they're working on.

I am applying for a Lockheed Martin job here in VT, and said I was a competitive candidate because of all my work done for Xtreme Simulation International through out the years. Please be patient, good things come with time. Thank you.
