Ashe said the girl’s stepfather had taken out his gun to try to frighten off dogs that had been hanging around the home. The child had been playing a Nintendo Wii video game, Ashe said. The game’s controller was shaped like a gun that looked very similar to the real handgun, which her stepfather had put on a table in the living room. Ashe said the girl pulled the gun off the table and it went off. Perhaps the most interesting aspect of this case is how easily mentioning video games in conjunction with a child’s death apparently deflects all media attention away from the stepfather’s decision to leave a loaded pistol within reach of an unsupervised 3-year-old child.

That death was caused by the stupidity of the child's step-father and not the Wii remote or the gun. What tool would leave a loaded weapon out in the open around any child. All the anti-gun people will be rally around the death of this poor innocent little girl. Actually they should be focusing on the lack of decent parenting skills instead. A gun to frighten away dogs. First shooting a gun to scare wandering dogs around his home is a severe lack of judgement and a safety hazard at best. How about call animal control Huckleberry. Not to mention various other more humane and safe methods like yelling at them or the neighbor that is letting them roam free, pepper spray or an air horn. LOL! Should they ban cars if someone leaves it running unattended with the kid in the front seat. Wish I was a judge or on the jury as I would jail him for 100 years for negligence and endangerment and that is the end of that. I guess that makes me pro-gun and anti-stupid.

First, take the remaining child out of that home and with Child Protective Services. Next, sterilize both "parents". Next, put them both in prison for a long time.
