You can climb up and down the side of the conning tower.

Climb the ladder to get to the attack scope or outside.

Views on the inside.

Nice external views.

Nice shots. The more I play this game the more I like it though I keep finding more tiny bugs. Have you tried the Mighty Fine Crew Mod yet?

The first two shots are very nearly the most beautiful I've ever seen from a sim. As a long time sub sim player I'm in two minds about this one.

I took a while to decide the first two shots were from the sim or real pictures! duh

It says a lot when you can smell the salt water and hear the gulls when lookin' at a video game screenshot!

Those of you who are on the fence about purchasing, I advise you to keep an eye on these forums as well as Subsim to see how certain of your concerns play out. I won't speak on the DRM issue, but as far as development shortcomings are concerned I can say from experience with SH3 and SH4 that SH5 will become a gem of a sim. The modding community is already in full swing addressing a variety of problems or matters of taste. The developers have shown a reasonable amount of dedication in the past and will likely again produce several patches and hotfixes over the coming months. I look forward to playing this sim intensely over the next year or more.

Been a regular at subsim for nearly a decade now and haven't seen the community as divided as this before. But I had decided to wait and see even before all the current storms. Something about it just didn't appeal to me.

Can I ask, I've heard various reports about the campaign and so far it hasn't been sold to me, Are you enjoying it?

Beautiful screenies, though. I can see myself buying it just to take screen shots!

Nice screenshots I have it but haven't really played it much but I liked how you can walk inside the sub now.

I'm only up to January of 1940 on my 5th patrol (Stock Silent Hunter traffic wears out torps way faster than fuel) and it really isn't that much different than SH4 campaign so far. Go here, sink ships with the occasional drop off a spy or photo recon some harbor. It does tell you how much tonnage to sink for merchant ships or that you need to sink a certain kind of warship. The missions extend over multiple patrols, it took me two patrols to get 50k tons off the east coast of England. Then I took the mission to sink 100k tons in the SW approaches, 2 patrols there and I'm not quite done but after returning on my second trip there I switched missions to take out warships in the eastern GIUK gap area. I'll have to get further before I can truly form an opinion but it's not a drastic change from SH4 at all from what I've seen.

Oops, didn't mean to ignore your question Jeevz. Yes, the "Mighty Fine Crew" mod is one of the first ones I installed. That and the SH4-style GUI so I can get a "Depth Below Keel" reading (among other benefits). I had forgotten that you don't get any deep water on the eastern part of England and scraped up the bottom of the boat.

I can't wait for that mod. Also, I would like to see the engine man freak out and try to crawl out of the conning tower hatch while the boat is near crush depth.

Nice shots. Can you actually drive into the underground sub pens?

Hmmm, good question. You get to drive out of them when you leave but I haven't tried going in because I clicked the "Dock At Port" button as soon as it was available. The next time I'll have to try it, though.

You can but as soon as the sub enters the pen you are teleported to the dock while the sub continues on at whatever speed you were going. BAM! right into the back of the pen and no one bats an eye hahaha
