Yes it has a quick mission builder
No on the patch (last I checked).
Runs perfectly stable (for me) as long as you don't try to force AA.

I bought this and tinkered with it last night in a Quick Battle. Takes a bit of getting used to, but very promising. Is there a battle replay feature?

nope on the replay but there is a forensic hit analysis after each battle and stats galore. Only bought it yesterday but I'm hooked - best 15 quid I've spent in ages.

Click on the spotter or hq unit, the arty panel opens, clck on flares (the left most icon), right click on area to illuminate and you should see the tooltip for the flares button chage to time to fire. Remember to click on the button again to tell the arty unit to stop illumination otherwise they will fire off all the flares. Artillery/airstrike works in the same way but you right click and drag to specify the area you want targeted.

I see. Thanks.
Secondary question...is there a magic involved while playing as Russian in the first campaign? I just can't do a darn thing vs anything but infantry. A bloody 232 took out two of my tanks while headon.

Cannot answer that one as I'm having the same trouble! Playing Ivan is a completely different kettle of fish to playing Fritz.

The US version already comes patched to the latest Russian version, but there is talk of possibly one last patch that can be implemented. But, with the add-on coming soon I wouldn't count on it.
Playing as the Russians is very tough, they seem to be pretty outmatched against the Germans. With that said it's very important to do well from the operational standpoint and create advantageous situations in order to gain the upper hand.

The Addon is coming soon in russia, not in western countrys. The Russians do the Beta test run for us, like with AP.

I would expect to have at least basic 14.9 AT-Rifle. That way I can deal with APCs...but right now they just roll over my units without a problem.

Most Platoons have them in reserve, you can exchange them mostly with 50mm Mortars or MGs..

Sure, sounds like you play the german Campaign, first units on the field are recon platoons and Infantry, on later tactical turns you get panzer platoons (Pz4/Pz3/Stugs/Marders etc) and some Field-Artillery(10,5mm) You also get Forward Observer(Command Unit of an Inf-Platoon or separate spotters) for Artillery and Stuka support..

Ah! Now I see how that works. I can switch units during setup stage. Too bad I can't combine units into something larger. Also, it seems resupplying ammo is a must.
I had a decent success during one defensive counter-attack. I attacked with 3 tanks / SMG infantry while one section was defended by Pak40 with dug in infantry. I also borrowed another Pak40 from sister unit to provide good secondary punch.
Result was very surprising. I thought I had a complete victory after destroying 3 tanks and 6 APCs without any tank losses (other than tracks which where fixed quickly). So I send combat recon with one tank and SMG squad into enemy territory only to discover few retreating APCs and AT vehicle which caught on fire quickly. Thinking a won, I move remaining tanks to clean up while suddenly out of no where a massive push is made onto my recon tank. Two other tanks are too far away to support and my unit get destroyed. As my other two tanks arrive, there are too many targets and while tanks attack APCs that are closer, AT tracked vehicles destroy my tanks from far away.
End result; over 15 APCs / tanks destroyed while I lost 3 tanks / 3 infantry SMG squads and heavily damaged Pak40.

This game really needs a patch. A 20mm panzer will eliminate T-34 without any problems. This is retarded.

More.. Infantry didn't get good lessons on how to throw grenades. They keep blowing themselves up. Also trees are natural enemy of grenades. Followed by foliage just doesn't work as concealment.

Well, the great thing is that this sim uses an armor model. After a battle you can look at every penetration that happened to a tank, every non penetration ect. So next time you see something like that, take a screen shot. Here is an example: You can also filter it to show only hits that caused damage. I've yet to see a MKII panzer take out a T-34. Do some damage, take off a track maybe. But not kill it. As far as infantry and grenades... If you put them in a deep forest, with tanks, what on earth do you expect?? Its your fault lol. Don't do that! Put them close to a road or something, that way they don't hit trees. A defensive position is useless to you if you own weapons are just as dangerous to you, as the enemy there. Its on you as the commander to recognize strong defensive positions. Positions that are favorable to you, and you alone. The woods are neither. They help the enemy nearly as much as they do you. They provide equial cover to both sides, and narrow fields of fire. In situations where you have no anti tank guns, Urban areas are your best bet. Even then you will see grenades hit trees, and even go off in the buildings they are throw from. It happens. War is hell.

I still don't understand why I need to worry about that. Especially since I can't move individual soldiers. Infantry is most deadly in forests since there is so much cover and concealment. Unfortunately, that doesn't work in this game. I've seen numerous times my soldiers die from own grenades. That's absurd!

Well, I agree they should be a little better with the grenades. It just doesn't seem to happen to me as much.
The whole reason I posted to begin with was this 'A 20mm panzer will eliminate T-34 without any problems. This is retarded.' I think maybe you might have forced them to abandon it at best. And it isn't destroyed in that case. I'm not about to go into the whole armor, ballistics, and how people think they understand them, but really don't. Just understand that different parts of a tank offer different levels of protection.
They have done their homework when it comes to this kind of thing. And with the tools they have provided, you just can't say things like that. And not produce some evidence.

Yep this Kharkov43 is a real diamond in the rough. Can`t believe how good it is. Only down side is it needs a juicy rig to run it well.

Weeksy, yes I have the D2D version. I even used their downloader to get the same file you have linked to but it won't work.
I sent off a support e-mail detailing exactly what I have done and their reply clearly indicated that they did NOT read my e-mail at all.Not a good start. I don't know where to go now,I even re-installed the game too.
*EDIT* I am going to re-download the game, hopefully it is the latest version.

You have to use the mod enabler to activate the patch, at least in the gamersgate version.

I re-downloaded the game,re-installed and now the patch works fine. In the support e-mail,they asked if I had activated the game? My question is,how? I have been playing it ok,I don't remember activating it. Do I have to? I have a serial number but don't re-call ever using it.

I just saw that this is on sale right now over at D2D for $3.99. Use code SHOWERS to bring it down another 20% to $3.19

Nice screenshot, I like how you used the correct German flag; I never liked the default game flag (it's like the Egyptian flag to me). So, would that be Hemul's flag mod you used there? You see, I was asking over in this thread http://simhq.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/topics/3211697/Hemul_if_you_cruise_by_these_f.html#Post3288364 if Hemul could re-upload his mod again as the old links are dead... but he isn't answering. Would you (or anyone) be so kind as to upload it somewhere so myself and others can use his flag mod? Or if it isn't Hemul's mod, if you don't mind me asking which mod is it, and/or how can we edit the textures ourselves? Actually I'd be happier editing it myself if I knew which tools to use to extract the data files so I can add my own textures (I'd like to make my own sound mod too). Thanks.
