Is really hot. And I've been working here for eight weeks and next week will be my last week until back at school. Thus far it's "art appreciation", and nothing more from my side. Somehow the entire office know that I think she's hot, probably the eye contact me and my friend from school have been exchanging at random times when she's leaning over a table or something and someone saw that, or she and have thus figured it out, or someone told her. Now last night we were out with the work on dinner and a few of us started talking about relationships. One other girl (males are in the minority at this office) asked me what preferences I prefer (the hot girl is at the table), I said the first thing that came to mind (blondes), my friend said something about "from which part of the country do you want her to originate from". First I said Gothenburg and half a second later her hometown. She laughed and said she maybe should be talking with he dialect. The other girl joked that "shouldn't you two go on a date" and the hot girl responded with a smile "yes when are we?" Now, I'm not stupid (or am I ? ), I doubt this is more then a friendly joke between co-workers, and not even something flirtacious, but a few random thoughts from SHQ would be appreciated. Nothing else happened really, but should I ask for her phone number before departing or drop it? I just somehow feel it would feel clumsy if I asked for her number.

Even when girls joke about something like that, there's a serious truth behind it. I just learned that over the last couple of weeks. Figure out when you have time to take her out, and boldly ask her out. Soon. Girls like assertiveness, but they also hate waiting. <Waiting for Pepper to chime in./>

Ask her out!
That's a lot like how things started with my wife and I. It took me months to figure out that she was serious. She jokes now that she didn't think I'd ever ask her out. LOL

I'll take it under consideration The "shouldn't you two go on a date" originated when I unoblivious seated next to here chair during lunch (she arrived shortly after that) and two others basicly went "ooohhh, she's single, aren't you as well?" and one of them jokingly suggested that the hot girl (when she entered the room) need a "risk management"-guy (what I'm studying for). And I half joked that yest we are going on a date next week, she responde with a smile "fun, what are we gonna do?", after that, that particular conversation died out and a new begun. But I'm still struggling to figure out here stance if I pop the question in regard to all this. But yeah, I'll probably regret if I don't atleast ask her for her cell number.

There's nothing bad about that. At least you don't have to go through hoops, trip wires and traps cause there are people against you being with the girl. I've experienced such and it's not pretty.
I've also gone through something similar to your situation. However, in my case it went to the point that people I'm not close with would literally tell me "she really loves you". No matter how much the people around would tell me how much feelings she had for me, I didn't believe them. She was "hot" in a sense and I always believed that anything she did or said to me was some sort of "game playing".
Well, looking back, I can't help but wonder what would my life be today if we ended up being together.
So go for it, do what you think you should do... or do everything you think you should do. At least you won't look back in regret as I find myself doing from time to time.
Edit: just something to look out for, if she's being polite and nice to you because everyone "knows" and "expects" such, be careful. Just leave enough room for both of you to retreat "gracefully" if the situation ends up being too awkward for her... or even you.

You see, these things kind of puzzle me. I was flirting with this hot chick - a consultant that sometimes works for us. She initiated some of that. Her bit of work is now finished here, but she bothered to contact me after, to ask stuff like "who won at bowling" (my team were on a bowling night a few days ago) and to tell me how funny some comedian she saw the other day was. Not to mention, when we were out drinking after work she would laugh at my stupid jokes. Even my colleagues joked about it "she must like you if she laughs at that crap" LOL. Anyway, as another piece of work she was supposed to do in a few weeks time is now cancelled, I thought I won't wait until she'll be back god knows when... So I kept exchanging emails with her and asked her telephone number. She gives me that. Now, I read this like a green light - sort of. So I phoned her and asked her out. She is telling me she has a boyfriend. What on Earth?! Anyhow, we made a few jokes about it and left it to that - still in friendly terms - you imagine some awkwardness can appear at this point. I keep thinking maybe I can't read these things, but logically, think I was right, I went through the "right" moves... if there's such a thing... So, m@verick I say go for it - what's the worst that can happen? LOL. I would have regretted it not to ask her out...

pfunk Exactly, but my internship ends on friday, and I'll never return, that's why I'm entertaining the thought. I laughed when you said you like blonde girls, living in Sweden aren't all the girls blonde? lol Well, there are a few of them around, but any natural colour then red works for me

Another vote for ask her. Some of the lines she used were like hanging curve balls over the plate, just waiting to be hit (American baseball reference).
If I was sitting with a girl I thought was hot and she responded to a "you two should go on a date" with "yes when are we?", my eyeballs would have started counter rotating in my head. Oh yeah, I'd hit on her.

There's subtle hints, and there's gigantic neon lighted signs. This was the latter, at least from a woman's perspective. Now their idea of clear signals and ours differ greatly, but since life seldom plays out like a porno, we must learn theirs.

Oh yeah, don't wait too long. If she did drop a big hint she might get pissy if you wait too long; thinking you are jerking her chain. That's happened before.

there was this girl on my brothers Face Book page who I asked him about some time back because she had the best smile and eyes on her profile shot. She was his GF's best friend back in JR High so he wasn't too updated on her. Fast forward to 3 wks ago and I noticed some posts on her Facebook page, not sure how I had access to her wall as I wasn't on her friends list. I took a chance and sent her an email stating I read that she wasn't seeing anyone and if she was interested in going for a drink? After a few wks of getting to getting to know each other first just by texting, then by Yahoo IM we went out last weekend. I would have never asked her out prior, but I'm glad I did. Take the chance, all she can do is say no

I remember seeing a cartoon/web comic where a woman walked into a bar and sat down. Everyone in the bar had thought bubbles that read things like "she is out of my league" "wow she is hot but..." "She would never give me the time of day." etc. The woman's thought bubble read. "I wonder why no one is talking to me, do I look that bad?"
No one is out of your league. The worse that can happen is that she pulls a gun and shoots you dead (or blows off a important body part.) Probably though she will just say no.

If she's going to shoot you down, she's just made it that much harder for her to turn down at least one date. Miss AZ's sis was in my class, what I would have given for a chance that you've been offered. Unfortunately, one jackass screwed it up for the entire class...long story.

What are you waiting for? Ask her out! Doesn't have to be a romantic mushy thing. Maybe a simple dinner and/or drinks or something relatively innocent. Then take it from there.

Ask her out.
But dont be surprised, after all this advice, if she declines...truth is, you were already given the giant green light, but didnt proceed! Very often such signals have an insanely short shelf life...or none at all. This due to women's expectations that you can read her most obvious social signals, and are assertive and risk taking enough to follow through. But ask her out even if not a sure thing.
I'd not ask her "uh...hey so uh, wanna go out?". I'd resurect the joking conversation from the other day, keep it the joke, then gently suggest you meet for a drink after work, after all she's "blonde and from____, my perfect dating type!" Or some variation of that...
Oh, the short shelf-life I've experienced several times...gotta be quick and play their game, when they invite you to play, or they go home without you!

I always thought there was this golden rule "never start a relationship with someone at work". I've seen it happen a few times and when it went wrong things got ugly very quickly. On the other hand, had my parents followed that rule I wouldn't be here writing this

Although this topic is not about me, I have read all your comments and have thought about my experiences in the past.
I have always had the thought that "Wow, that girl is way too hot for me!", so I guess that is one of the main reasons for me still being single!
As much as I'd love to have a girlfriend, there are also so many bad points to having one. One day I think I'd kill to have a GF, another I'm glad I'm single. There are so many pros and cons depending on the type of person you are, your lifestyle, your work hours, everything.
I mean yeah, I'd love the company and the love and the sex but at the same time I don't want all the bullsh*t that comes with it. I'm talking about the sort of girls in my area here and not for the rest of the world.

I haven't deceided against it yet. But I do think times passed and I'll get shot down if I pop the question.
And I'm not gonna take a random pic of her, not very smooth.

The pic question was inevitable. And with the diversity of taste displayed here in SimHQ, anyone can end up criticizing any pic uploaded.

No JESC, you're not cynical. You're right. And I totally agree with you. hey Mav(I was dying to say this... :P), don't feel pressured or don't do anything you don't want. Forget the pic. BUT DONT LINGER ON ASK HER OUT. IT WILL NOT GET ANY EARLY, DO IT! @Terrible two: I'm not against you or anything. Don't take bad my comment. I actually smiled reading it.

maverick, get on with it man. So what if she says no ? Until you ask you already have a no by default.
Try this. Take a single flower like a daisy (not a rose, whole different message) and put it in her desk clutter one day. Later drop by and just say "thought you might want a little lift in your day". No need to take it further right then. Let that sit for a while. It will give you an indication of her interest without having to risk anything.

Are you asking her to marry you? Dude, your just asking her out for a good time! Too much pressure is put into dating. Its just going out, having fun with someone, and seeing where it takes you.

Naw man, you gotta be smooooooooth. You can't just walk up and say, heya I like you, let's get together and make a date. You gotta come up with something where she's left with little doubt that you are the Man. Something like, "I put the STD in STUD, now all I need is U."
