After reading Flyboy's article about the many who are abandoning LB2 because of their overly awesome machines...

I know keeping a legacy machine around just to play LB2 may be a bit of a turnoff for some, but there may be a slight solution to this. The netbook! Netbooks are super nice for portability and such, so they may be practical for you beyond just keeping a legacy machine around and many of them still run on XP.

I own an EeePC 1000HE, you can find them online for around 260 USD right now. I just plug my USB Saitek joystick, a USB keyboard, and a USB mouse. Then I simply plug a VGA cable into my 42" LCD TV and I am able to play LB2 at the highest resolution that the VooDoo wrapper will allow (With no slowdown). I also upgraded my RAM from 1 gig to 2 gigs in my netbook. (This is a must IMO)

So it may be silly to run out there and drop 260 just to play LB2... But a netbook has a lot more practical uses than a legacy machine would have. Just a suggestion for all the ultra-frustrated.

But, Steve Jobs says "Netbooks aren't good at anything" smile

Seems they are good at running Longbow 2.Please post a picture of this setup. We'd love to see it.

Thanks man! I guess it doesn't get an A+ for awesomeness like a super modern gaming rig.

But it allows me to play the best heli sim I know!

No prob. I'm of course a bit new. I hope there's still a couple of people who still play this game out there. I sure would like to attempt to fire up multiplayer someday.
