So far, so good. Windows 7 totally rocks. I went from an older single-core Pentium 4 PC with XP3 to a new i7 o'clocked 920 with Windows 7, and everything is rocking---so far. No glitches, no driver issues, no nothing. I skipped the whole Vista generation and all the software-that-won't-work problems. Here's a summary of what I've installed in my Windows 7, 64Bit machine:
Software installed and working perfectly:
NASCAR Racing 2003 Season (better than perfect. Did you know there are
EXTREME graphic settings in this old sim? I didn't until now. Wow!)
GTR2: graphics and SOUND are amazing now!
RACE 07GTR EvolutionRACE ONNeed for Speed: ShiftFSX: Everything on ULTRA HIGH
Janes WWII FightersOver Flanders Fields w/Super PatchGhost Recon ClassicLock On: Modern Air CombatDCS: Black SharkBattle of Britain IIOnly
IL2 1946 requires a
compatibility mode. All others work perfectly, out of the box, in Win 7 64 Bit. Only disappointment:
Janes USAF. It doesn't seem to like th 64Bits.
Hardware compatibility:
All HP printers functioning, including C8180 Photosmart, without doing anything other than plugging in and loading the normal driver. My 24 inch monitor worked without loading a driver.
Game controllers working as advertised:
Saitek X45
HOTAS and
Logitech G25 system. Haven't tried my Trustmaster FF Wheel with Clutch Pedal system, Thrustmaster
HOTAS Cougar,
Saitek Flight Yoke, CH Flight Yoke, or
Saitek Rudder Pedals.
What results are others getting with Windows 7, 64 Bit?
