Is anyone out there using the free Mirosoft Anti-Virus Protection in place of whatever you were using before. The word that I am getting from sim friends that are using it, say that their framerates have increased in sims that they fly and that it gives them better all around protection. Unfortunitely, they do not fly RoF....... so I am not getting any framerate report from them about RoF. I now use the free AT&T McAfee and am considering replacing it with the MS protection. Any response on this subject will be appreciated.

I would say since the one you are currently using is free, just switch for a while and see what you think of the MSAV. If you don't like it, switch back to McAfee.

I use Microsoft Security Essentials. It is good and doesn't cause any major problem. Still, you should shut your virus program off while playing games generally speaking.

I am also using Microsoft Security Essentials and I had no issues with RoF.

I am unaware of what impact it has on frame-rates as I have never turn off antivirus.

I ran at 2048x1536 windowed.

My computer specs are...
Intel Core2 Quad Q9650 @ 3.7Ghz
8Gb Corsair TWIN2X4096-8500C5D
ASUS Rampage Formula Motherboard
Sapphire Radeon HD5870 1GB
Western Digital VelociRaptor 300GB WD3000GLFS
Auzentech X-Fi Forte 7.1 Soundcard
Corsair HX1000W 1000W Power Supply
CoolerMaster Cosmos S

No problems here with MSE and RoF.
I didn`t like McAfee AV products because they did a huge impact on performance on our client PCs at work...

I would turn off McAfee and check framerates without virus protection, but have not found a way to turn it off. Sounds stupid I know, but so far no joy.
Thanks for the response.

Lol BadBud. You are not alone. I have the same problem with AVG ! If I try to touch it I'm immediately innoculated in the neck with a strange blue fluid and quarantined in the basement.

Once bitten, twice shy. I leave it alone. But surely you would leave it on anyway in RoF. It still requires a constant online connection at the moment to neoqb's site and what if that gets a malicious virus.
