Hmm I have flown every aircraft side by side on two pc's in full comparison and there is little difference in the FM. You have to have your stick sensetivity adjusted in both games the same. If they are set different the FM will seem different.
The DM is better in Il2.
Have you set up two Pc's and flown the same plane on each game side by side ? If you get the full game and try this same experiment you'll know what I'm talking about. The FM is pretty much the same, give or take a couple of numbers. There are visual differences that make it appear different but the end result is the same on the aircraft in both games.
I mean no disrespect against your opinion. To each their own,
The DM is being worked on. It has been increase a patch or so ago. I love Il2 and still fly it a min of 15hrs a week, but as a pilot, It does not deliver a true sense of flight like WOP and ROF do. For me this really takes away from my enjoyment of Il2. The game is old though and I'm sure SOW will deliver when it comes out.

I have the game and love it. I only play online and there is a group of us that have formed some kind of squad.

What I love about it: I can jump right in and fly a game online and I can choose archade, realistic, or full sim (I choose a version of realistic as we can now pic and choose options). I don't have to wait 10 min to get into a game and when i get killed I respawn. The graphics are very real looking at 700 feet.

Things I don't like about it: AI stinks, you may get ctd way to often. No mix of AI and breathers online - so no formation of bombers you have to attack or defend, ground flak in online non-existent.

The groups TEAM SPEAK 3 address is ts55.gameservers.com:9138
we are on from like 2PM central USA time to who knows when.

What does ROF do better? Physics

When ROF changes the online play so that I can jump into an on going game and also have respawn I may switch back to ROF. ROF also needs to change so that you can see planes at thrice the distance you can now.

I tried the demo. It's a lot of fun definately. To me, the graphics and environment reminds me of EAW. The FM in "simulation mode" is not very difficult. The FM is nothing like IL-2 as someone mentions above. Definately a lot of fun though.

Desode, no I haven't tried that, unfortunately the demo doesn't save your settings so it is difficult to set up fully, but I will keep it in mind, as I say I will be getting it just for the fact that they have done a great job on the landscape and to be honest this type of flight sim is more likely to drag in players that might not otherwise had a go.

I've been flying WoP for a month now.
It has the shortcomings mentioned but is still a lot of fun and was a good purchase.
As long as they don't stop with improvements WoP can only get better.
My wishlist is more maps.
The developers do not share their plans and do not believe in documentation or instructions. smile I guess all the $ goes to coders not technical writters. smile

Short answer: fun game/similar, still being (constantly) updated, well worth the money and HDD space for me

I bought WOP via Steam about a month ago. It looks fantastic, runs well and its lots of fun.

OK its more USAF than DCS blackshark but I think to some degree WOP is what the flight sim genre needs to attract more casual gamers that just may get the flight sim bug.

The cockpits look fantastic imo.

For Tiger27 and Buddywoof, If i remember correctly the Demo does not enable Simulation mode, so any comparison of the flight model using the Demo is flawed.
In Simulation it is easy enough to get your aircraft into a spin, in Realistic less so and not really possible at all in Arcade.
Flaps will only come down with the undercarriage in Arcade for example no independant control.

The latest patches have added customisable settings so you can adjust the difficulty
ie use simulation flight model but without having to control engine functions like mixture and cowl , turn off Torque effects etc.

I believe the Demo is still version 1024 or earlier and limited in any case, the latest game patch is 1029.

Anyone that rejects it because they "heard" this or that is seriously missing out. Wait till you get in a scissor fight with a 190 above 5000 feet over Berlin, in the last Campaign Mission.(the pics below are just the IA module). It's more realistic than you all think it is.You'll come out of an hour long combat mission going "Wow. That was cool." Thanks to Jason for bringing us a boxed version!!

And whoever said it's not tough in Simulation mode isn't running it in simulation mode. Besides, it's beautiful, like Jason and others have screamed:

Coolest flight sim I'vem ever had,(and I've seen 'em all since 1981) runs like butter maxxed out, and is straight up FUN.
