Whenever I have a bunch of planes in close vicinity, the sound of the plane engines start stuttering. It seems that the sound is skipping, like when you play a scratched up CD and it gets stuck at a point. However, I am checking my frame rates and they are still in the 40s etc. So I am not sure what the problem is. None of my other games have that problem. I have a built-in soundcard (VIA HD Chipset).

Seems like the solution is here:

It could be the built in Soundcard RealTek Audio drivers. I have a SB Audigy Gamer lying around and will give that a go and see what happens.

The recommended fix that worked for me when I was having the same problem in ROF, was running my Vista OS in XP Compatibility Mode. I even posted this on the ROF Website Forum. The ROF devs agree with this as Vista is a resource hog so XP Mode frees up more memory for memory-intensive ROF. If you're not using Vista, then of course, you'll have to try something else.

Thanks Trek. I am using Windows 7 32 bit. From what I have read, Win7 is less of a resource hog than Vista. However, just in case, do you run the game in XP compatibility mode or the whole OS?

I installed the SB Audigy Gamer card and the sound stutters are still there, but seemed to have lessened. The odd thing is that when I do a track playback of the same mission where I experienced the stutters, I don't hear or notice the stutters at all. Also odd is that when flying realtime or track playback, my FPS is still very good. I am totally lost as to what to do next.
