Will they be axed or mothballed? There is IMHO something to say for the second option - put them in storage to preserve them, but keeping them flightworthy a) costs a huge lot and b) there's always an increased risk of something happening to them.
(Although the Cutty Sark incident three years ago shows that something can happen anywhere.)

i hear there is another lancanster in the UK and canada that they are trying to get airborn, so might be 4 flying sometime...

RCAF Arrow, you are right. The Panton Bros at East Kirkby, Lincolnshire are planning to get thier Lancaster 'just jane' airborne sometime in the future.

Brian, I'm sure you know that the Mail is conservative and this story may seem far fetched, however I wouldn't put it past the next SD Review(ers) to try and 'lean out' the forces and save money where ever possible. When ytour inside looking out the view isn't as rosy!

As for BBMF, it's nice to see some folk will still step up to the plate for this national treasure,
