Sorry.
I have been offline for some time now and I did not know about you inquiry before.
You did a great job anyway, AD... congratulations!
I must tell you that Xpress-Pits were designed mostly to be portable, fast to build in series and very cheap.
If you are planning to have something more "definitive" I would consider using some kind off wooden material.
On the other hand, I have been using the protoptype of Xpress-Pit 2.0 for a number of years now, and I never had a major problem with it, apart from the quality of the seat (we had to change several broken seats from our Xpress-Pits).
Thank you for your interest.
Thanks for your compliments, and HUGE thanks for your excellent plans. They made building this pit simple, hassle-free and importantly, fun. Having the pit has made flying so much more enjoyable.
Are you considering designing an Xpress-pit 3? I have a few suggestions if you are interested:
1) Have a support section under the center of the seat. A T section in the center of the front and back horizontal seat supports would help to take a lot of the force.
2) Make the forward lateral supports much narrower. With the very low center of gravity I can't see the pit tipping over. Such wide supports don't seem necessary.
3) Diagonal supports from the outside of the arm rests diagonally in and down to the pipe laying flat on the floor. This would make the arm rests much sturdier allowing them to take some serious weight.
Brigstock, Jiver,
Both look fantastic, much neater than mine.
Jiver,
I especially like the cabling work on yours jiver, very neat. Do you not find the pedals are a bit low?
Cheers
