So, we hear that there's a bad guy convention in a village SE of our FARP. So we load up and get the rotors churning the air.
We approach the alleged evil doer location and attempt to gather information via the TADS for evidence into their alleged crimes. This will be necessary should our case be challenged by a jury.
I check to see my wingman is on board, and that he has his little Miranda Rights card ready to read. We agree that I am going to be the bad cop, and he will be the good cop.
After scanning buildings and revetments, a Shilka, obviously not standard issue equipment for a legal demonstration pops up, and we have all the proof we need to move forward on the operation.
After the enemy is unarmed, we begin splashing, uh, I mean, dispatching legal implications, to the alleged criminals.
Let the justice begin!
After my run, I pull up, bank left, then haul it around to the right again to observe the target area.
And this was my attitude when my CP/G starts screaming something about someone named, "Sam".
And sure enough , I rudder flip the aircraft, and see a party of SAM streamers coming up at me.
I pull my famous, "Haywire's Corkscrew" maneuver to shake them off. Just forgot to check my altitude since it's a little different in a helo than in a jet...
...aaaaand I pull up and out just fine and find myself watching 3...4...5 SAMs streaking past me.
But that's only half of the Hotel Charlie move...I roll out and deliver more 2.75 inch justice!
My wingman hasn't been drilling up on it much, obviously, as he's pulled ahead of me and I nearly collide with him- but the good news all the Singers missed me.
That is, most of them. I'm at the top of my loop against a clear blue sky and low speed. This does not look good, and I'm already reaching for the fire extinguisher handle.
Which doesn't work.
I'm figuring it hit me pretty good, but a quick BIT test shows no damage...though I'm losing fuel fast. Probably burning out in a streaming flame out my aircraft's belly. But I'm pretty scared and ticked off at the same time so I'm hammering everyone and everything that rears its unfriendly head on the trip home.
My wingman's covering my flanks...
Fuel's dropping fast. I think I'll be alright if I can keep a straight line
So I put `er down nice and easy. We get out and survey the damage. Like the BIT showed, there's not too much damage, just leaking fuel.
I actually nailed some of those SAM operators, but for some reason the game crashed as I reached for the print screen button, so I didn't get a print of it. I also got some FRAP video of it, and will endeavor to post that as soon as possible to YouTube or sumpin'
