The thought of anyone kill stealing has never crossed my mind when I've been with a group and if there is some advantage I'm not really worried about it. Now the guys who fly off to get the anomalies while the rest of us are fighting I find annoying.

Yeah, I have certainly noticed that I don't always get all the loot even when I do most of the damage, but for same level ships it seems to even out so I don't think I'm being cheated in any way. And definitely I'm not going to stress enough to stop using sound tactics just to chase kills or hoard.

Overall, I've been loving this game. Hope to see you out there!

I was doing some "Defend the Sector" missions yesterday and there were a couple times where after defeating a group I'd have a couple of drops and at least in one case I'm pretty sure I never touched the guy. I think in both cases though I was part of a group but I'm not 100% on that.

I like it when someone creates a group for these encounters. It makes it a lot easier to see if someone is in trouble and also to local where people are. There were times there were other people in the zone and we didn't know about them until we saw some zone message.

You know I had the same experience. I'm beginning to think that loot is diced rather doled out by damage totals.

Would certainly be disappointing to the whiners...nothing to whine about! smile

Now that it's been out a couple of weeks, how do you guys feel about the game? I have been thinking about picking it up off Steam, but if the new is wearing off already, I don't want to pay that much for a game that I won't play past the initial month.

Well, I'm kind of partial to the Treki-verse and still enjoy the atmosphere. There's players already hit the cap, got the biggest ships currently in game. I wonder what they did with their time? Actually reading the mission text is part of the experience but I think we're not used to doing that in games anymore.

Anyhow, I was re-watching some of those funny Star Trek movie reviews on YouTube, I said in the SimHQ STO chat I'd post the link here so here it is.

I'm playing it casually. There is no rush to do things. Did the "City at the Edge of Forever" or whatever quest. Was fun, lots of good TOS homages. NExt up is the "Doomsday Machine" smile

Got back to this and I'm starting to really enjoy it. Had a big conflict at Starbase 24(?). Probably a long time ago for most of you, but there must have been 70 Klingon ships to take out on the screen. Ran with some other ships and we worked together taking them out, even sharing the loot went pretty fairly that I could tell. A lot of fun.

At what point do you earn your next ship? I see different ships all over the place, but I'm still in my customized entry level destroyer.
Currently Lt. 3.

I am having a great time so far. I feel it's a little rough around the edges, especially if you are a Klingon player. I just made Lt Commander and still deciding which ship class to get, leaning towards a cruiser. I've seen a few people from here in STO and whoa! theys already be admirals!!! Cool. Gives the game a little sense of community for me as I am not in fleet. (dunno if I will but I figure for 'raiding' or however that plays out in this game I may need to join one.

Away missions hold the least affection from me but the space missions more than make up for it.. I actually use some of my old sim tactics combined with naval ship techniques (crossing the 'T' and such)

I like it...

Got a few questions, maybe you all can help me before I have to try to find actual info on the official site (not much specific info on there, haven't found a manual yet).

With loot, is it assigned to one person? Sometimes it's gold, other times it's white. How is that determined? I try not to grab everything when in a group, but the gold ones just go untouched and I can't get the white ones.

Can someone tell me what that green person icon means?

And whatever this thing is supposed to be:

White loot is loot dropped to someone else. Gold loot is yours.

As for the icons, not really sure biggrin
