Just checking your posts here:
Quote:
I modified the plane`s weapons (canons and machine guns) and I used the 1.28 patch

In order to help some more information is needed.
Which 1.28 patch- the original, or a later one (A, B or C)?
Which eaw.exe are you actually running.
Does it run without your modified planes.dat in the root folder?
Where did you get the "planes.dat" that you modified from?
If you get a new "planes.dat" from the same place and put it in the root folder without modification, then does EAW still run?

Hi

How do I alter the convergence (range?) for A/C esp. for ETO and SPAW , example F4F?

I find when closing on an enemy the bullet stream passes by both side of my target.
Is it even possible without messing with the exe?
Also is the convergence dist published?
I remember building a scale Comet kit (many yrs ago!) which included all gun adjustment info including drawings showing convergence.
Was very bummed out to find that my model would not strafe the dog/cat/younger brother attack!

TIA

Jacko

Hello North,

the convergence values are in the *.flt files.

For the new exe i will try to add a EAW.ini value to influence the guns convergence a little.

As long as you dont play online, you can adjust the *.flt files like you want, if you want to fly online all need to use the same flight files, changings would cause a error(cheat check).

To edit the cons convergence you need F-edit or the old Aircraftedit.

Iam not sure if both are on Sandbaggers, but they should be.

The values in questions are called "gun dispersion".

Currently US planes are normaly adjusted to around 300 yards.
Its a absolut realistic problem that your bullets pass the target right and left, if you get very close. Thats why the nosemounted single 20mm + 4 x 50cal of the P38, same like the single 20mm and 2 x 13mm of the 109G6 did count as very good for the rather low number of guns. With this weapon placement always the full gunpower was present.
If you adjust the guns to lets say 200 yards, the bullets will pass the target in 350 yard distance.
Specialy vs Bombers it will get difficult or dangerus, cause you need to get to close.

Greetings,

Knegel

It is working properly from now, i used a new "PLANES.DAT".
Before it I used another "PLANES.DAT" file. That's why that did not work.

Thank you.

Hello,

thank you. smile

For the next EAW1.28 exe(EAW1.28e) we will have

1. Two more EAW.ini entrys.
- "Guns Convertion Y" to adjust the horizontal displacement of the bullet stream for ALL plane types(Aiīs dont get influenced).
- "Guns Convertion Z" to adjust the vertical displacement of the bullet stream for ALL plane types(Aiīs dont get influenced).

So with this two values you can set a general gunvergence setting, which influence every plane you fly.

2. Two values(y and z) inside the "vc_offset_**.mpf" files get used to make the player able to make preffered plane specific convergence settings.

So with EAW1.28e the *.fltīs keep the basic guns convergence setup, only here we can give different gungroups a different convergence setup. This setuo can get influenced by adjusting the "vc_offset_**.mpf" files to the players need and then we can additionally change the convergence distance of all planes at same time by editing the EAW.ini.

I think this should give the player enough space to adjust the convergence to his need.

Unfortunatelly we wont have a graphical tool to adjust the guns, so it need to be done more or less by trial and error. To see if the current setup work effective need tests anyway. wink

Oh yes, of course only the convergence setup in the *.fltīs is relevant for the multiplayer cheat check.

Greetings,

Knegel

What would help is a target stand and a firing range setup to test and align the guns like the airforces actually used. Just a thought mind you, just a thouight.
