Nothing but rain here.

We are expecting high tides though. At LOW tide this morning there's only about a foot of clearance under the dock. Usually it's about four to five feet.

Hopefully I won't be fishing from the back door in 6 hours!

Just 22 inches this time. Maryland is for the time being the snowiest state in the lower 48.

Mike, you best clear the snow off your roof. The weight of that much snow can cause damage and even a collapse of the roof. And be careful in doing so. Every year people die from falls from clearing the snow off the roof.

Hell be Ok as long as he falls on his head.

Global warming wears me out

Hi Mike,

That's good advise from Uriph.
Althought snow on the roof looks innocent enough now.
When the sunshines, it starts to melt and gets even heavier.
Ice forms in the eaves and prevents run-off
Behind those little ice dams more ice forms and adds to the weight
on your roof. Your pics shows that your roof has a good pitch to it.
However, it's the strength of your joists and trusses that counts now.

And be damn careful if you decide to go up on your roof.
Wear the best damn boots you've got with deep treads for the best traction.
No sneakers (ie:running shoes or street shoes) for this job.
People have broken bones or worse falling off snow covered roofs....

Getting a ladder up against the eaves and pulling the snow off
the roof with a makestift 2x4 board with a 2x2 braced pull handle attached
works quite well. Or even an inverted push broom works too.
This gets most of the snow and the weight off the roof
without endangering yourself too much...

and I'll bet you thought just clearing your driveway
was all you had to think about....
