Congrats on the Wings.

Hammfist said it well. It may not be the most glorious job to fly UAVs, but one the most important ones in the current conflict. And the benefit is you get to go home every day and sleep in your own bed.

I'm actually a bit surprised that they aren't rotating a little older guys, married with family, onto UAVs and leave the deployments to the young ones...

Congratulations, Sim!

PS: What are the chances of seeing FC2/A-10 installed on your UAV computer? :p might make for some awesome follow-up pictures!

Congrats Sim!

I will tell you, as someone who was 'banked' in the early 1990s, the USAF did keep their promise to bring all the 'banked' guys back to flying, so there is precedent to eventually go to an actual aircraft. In addition, hopefully, this will count as your early 'bad deal' tour, and you can avoid another one until much later.

Did they get any more specific as to which type of aircraft you will go to as a follow on? (ie Tanker, Transport)?

Currently, that's a promise. No idea what's next as I hear returning from UAVs is not that easy due to some reasons/issues.
