According to my swedish retail seller, they will have it in store Mars 5th, I just hope I get it before the releaseday and dont have to wait after the weekend. :P Looks really promsing the Collectors Edition and it comes with what I hope is a printed manual! (of course I have no high hopes for it but it says manual and I hope its not PDF they are reffering to!) http://www.spelbutiken.se/catalog/product/62231-silent-hunter-5-collectors-edition--for-pc

I'm not into online gaming so I will not be buying SHV. Besides, it only has one submarine modeled and only part of the entire war.
Oh...and yes, I know it's not really an online game. It's just the only way you can play it. Make sure you're okay with that before swiping your plastic.

Instead of a "No-DVD" solution, the hackers will likely come out with a "No-Internet" solution. Cheer up, everybody!

This is the reason I didnt buy Rise of Flight. I understand the whole copy protection thing, but this I can not do. As much as I want this game, I'm gonna have to pass. It'll be the first Silent Hunter game that I wont purchase. I'll probably get it down the road when they release the patch to remove that particular type of DRM. Good luck simmers, I'll be looking forward to your gameplay videos. Thanks

I was at WalMart today and had this game in my hands..went to checkout and it came up that it couldn't be sold. The old lady told me it probably had a recall. She had no clue. DAMN!!

Walmart has a history of breaking release date agreements. This really put other, smaller retailers like GameStop at a huge disadvantage. It is assumed Walmart figured the ledger was in their favor even if they had to pay a fine for breaking release date. Looks like they may have re-thought that strategy and is likely why they could not sell it to you. Awhile back, I read that Microsoft was considering a way to encode software so that it could not be activated until the official release to prevent such activities, but I haven't heard of implementation.

I am not so sure that there are ulterior motives by Walmart in this case. I have a hard time believing that Walmaart would risk ticking off one of the bigger game developers over a game like Silent Hunter V. If they did something like that with a Rainbow Six game I would be more suspicious but SHV isn't the one that I would risk fighting it out with Ubisoft.
I suspect that the DVDs arrived and someone in the back stocked it without thinking about it. Walmart employees are generally nice but they aren't necessarily the most observant bunch. Heck, even well paid and well educated employees that make similar blunders. Since there was no SKU active in their computers they couldn't sell it.

I hope D2D is available to start downloading before I leave for work. Steam's countdown shows it won't be ready until tomorrow afternoon/evening.

Well, D2D still lists March 2nd . . . I'm tempted to stay up until midnight but I have an early and long day at work tomorrow. Well, even if it isn't available tomorrow I must say I love this Christmas-like feel when release is imminent.

They seem to be the only ones actually with a download.
I'm not a very happy individual at this time. I purchased the game, the gold version too, directly from Ubisoft only to find that people who go to Best Buy and other places can get the game first.
I am not too pleased with how Ubisoft has gone and stepped all over it. I wouldn't be so mad if they hadn't sent out repeated e-mails to the pre order customers telling them that their game was ready only to have them stare at a download button that didn't work. Even better was them changing the button back to pre-order just about an hour ago.
I'm already in a bad mood before I start the review process.

MadDog got it, Impulse is basically Stardock's version of Steam.

Enigma intercepts have revealed a copy of SH5 heading my way. Task force is ready to put to sea, and will be on station for its arrival.

Oh, heh heh . . . when I read "Impulse" I thought you meant like an "impulse buy." Thanks. Ha! No Impulse buy here, SH5 was a buy for me as soon as it was announced. Even with the teething problems of 3 and 4 I still enjoyed them immensely and as they got modded and patched it was like getting a new and better sim every few months, I expect this will follow that path.
