OK - the XFX HD 5850 Black Edition card arrived, is installed and ROF is now the treat I always knew it would be. Just spent a few of hours taking turns with my son and with a couple of tweeks (disable "shake" from force feedback, reduce FF to 50%), it flies so smooth I can't see any frame shake -- frames per second must be pretty high now. And that was running in Eyefinity mode at 3840x1200 resolution with most quality settings on max and AA at 2. Great stuff, but I want a third monitor and when I get it, I will set all of them up on end (tall, not wide) which I think is the best way to go for ROF. BTW, I just tested ROF with SpeedFan 4.40 running which showed me that all 8 of my CPU cores were being well used in ROF. I estimate average usage at 40%-50% per core, with some running at up to 80% occasionally and some as low as 19% at times, but all were used at all times. This is great news because it means ROF runs better on more processor cores. I have two quad processors, and it's really using all 8 cores -- nice!

Hey Granboy.... I just received ROF as a Christmas present and I can NOT figure out where to change the display settings to use more real estate. I have the same setup as you but can only use about 2/3 of the screen space on the first monitor. How do you change the resolution of this software? It is driving me nuts!
I know that the MS software standard can be klunky, but I sure wish everyone would use it.

I used to be indecisive but now I'm not so sure.

Hi Michelle,
OK. Believe me, I know ROF has so many settings it's easy to miss something and there is hardly any documentation to help. First thing you can do is open ROF. At the first screen you see, it will say in the upper left hand corner: "ROF Launcher". At the bottom of this screen, click on "settings". On the settings page, click the little box beside where it says: "Fullscreen mode" --this will now at least get you to be able to use one full screen when you start the program.
Next, do you have an ATI HD 5850 card? If so, let me know and I can post instructions on how to enable EyeFinity which will allow you to fully use more than one monitor. In that case, I will lead you through the steps to take in the ATI control panel -- it's not very intuitive, but that's where you have to set-up EyeFinity, not in Windows.
Glad you got ROF for Christmas -- seems Santa was equally good to both of us.

Great stuff, but I want a third monitor and when I get it, I will set all of them up on end (tall, not wide) which I think is the best way to go for ROF. Hi You may want to head over to RoF site and request they add support for the resolution required to do that. I'm not sure it is currently possible, but it might be. However, it would a good idea to ask about, just in case. It is called triple portrait mode. Be sure to give then the resolution you desire 3600x1920, I suppose would be right for your panels. Be sure to let them know it will be used with Eyefinity. Like I said, it may already support the res, I just haven't heard anything about it. @PropNut. I have 3 of that same model monitor. Mine are the big bother (26"), but the model is the same. Nice panels.

I can at least confirm that 3840x1200 is supported (two 24" monitors at 1920x1200 each) in ROF and likely more --great stuff.

Yes, the game supports 3 wide mode, no problem. I am running 3 26" monitors myself, in landscape mode. You said you want to use them standing on end, in Portrait Mode. That's different, the game might not support that. Not all games do, you know.
If you are interested in running them portrial mode, you might want to put a bug in their ear.

TF,
Are you running Eyevision or Eyefinity? Whatever they call it now.

Jason,
I'm running EyeFinity (an ATI term) at 3840x1200 with ROF -- no problem in landscape mode. I, too, will try portrait mode (monitors on end) when I get a third monitor -- unless you tell me it won't work.
That would be 3600x1920, like TF said, and I believe it would be the best way to go with ROF for ultimate immersion. Landscape mode makes me feel vertically constrained.

No Jason, I have TripleHead2Go Digital Edition. 5760x1200 should be possible with Eyefinity and probably NVIDIA's new line when it comes out.

I am running ROF @ 5040x1050 (and have tried it also at 5040x1200) it works perfectly. You do need to tweak it a bit to adjust the FOV but otherwise it seems to have support out of the box.
Woops, I was going to jump into RoF and take a screenshot but....MasterServer (that needed a Tron type influence there didn't it? lol) is not home.

I thought it was just me. Yes, Master Server appears to be offline.

Hi WingNut..Could you please try to see if it works in portrait mode? I know you can't set your monitors up for that mode, since you have them mounted. But if you can see if will display at 3600x1920 if would be apperciated. Also, if it does, please take a screenshot. It should come out okay. Even though it will look very funny to you on the screens, the shot will be correct. Thanks

er...WingNut...Wingnut...intersting choice of names........although that is not my nom de plume it does sound good...mayhap I will filch that name for my own use On to your question... At this time there does not seem to be support for three monitors in portrait mode. You can stack them up one atop the other but they must remain in landscape orientation.

Man I'm sorry, really I am. I can read, seriously, I can, really.
I glanced at the name and suppose it was a combination of the WH and getting the aviation cartoon character 'wingnut' name stuck in my head. Again, I'm sorry, I wasn't trying to poke fun or anything. It was an honest mistake.
Thank you for trying Portrait mode. I got to thinking about something though. Unless one was to use 5 panels for portrait mode, it would not really be a benefit. I mean think about it; Aspect wise 3600x1920 isn't much different than a single widescreen panels aspect. It would need to be 6000x1920 to really make a difference. And 5 panels wouldn't be much different than 3 in landscape mode either. It would be a little taller with 5 in portrait. But using only 3 would be of no real benefit over a single, as far as the aspect ratio goes.

I may try stacking my monitors on top of each other to see if I like it better that way, but I need to find a way to mount them on my wall or build a case which supports them.
Anyone else try stacking two monitors? Better than side-by-side for ROF?
