Ghost, did you ever consider using Hall Effect Sensors in this project instead of Pot's?

It doesn't even need to be considered if high-end pots are used. There is absolutely nothing wrong with pots unless cheap pots are used like most controller manufacturers use unfortunately. And yes, I realize my name isn't "Ghost". burnout

Why? The pots I'm using are the same as the ones I have in my Throttle Quadrant. Never had an issue with any CH POT going on 8 years now.

They are know for being far more reliable than TM ones, but well placed Hall sensors are even better.

Well IF I ever have to change a POT, I'll deal with it then. Really, no need 'til then.

I think that by that time even better technology than hall sensors will be available a lot of TM users had to buy old (i mean really old) CH joysticks just to cannibalize the pots.

CH pots dont match physically in actual Tm sticks, ie Cougar. To adapter is need some machine work, so is more easy for people do some DIY HALL (or MaRS) assembly. wink

Is need use HALL instead pots? No, but actually these things are more cheap than good potentiometers - Why they appear in Logitech, Saitek and Tm sticks. smile

BTW - To get CH pots, is no need buy old sticks, just go to CH Spare parts, and buy a new: www.chproducts.com/shop/parts.html (If every time I advertise this in foruns around the world I receive 0,50$ I would take some beer.) smile

Manufacturer is CTS: http://www.ctscorp.com/components/potentiometers.htm

However, the POTS in the TQ are a wee bit smaller and have a larger ROM. Nor are they on the available parts page wink

Cougar? No. F-22 Pro? All it takes is a swap of the part around the shaft that's smooth on the CH pots, but threaded on the TM pots because that's how they're held in. They're also CTS pots. Wouldn't surprise me if all the other old TM sticks used the same pots.

(Now if they'd make more reliable Cougar microsticks that still clicked down...)

By the way, this CH/Suncom throttle hybrid is looking nice. I once had a SFS Throttle with the intention to mod it later, but never could wrap my head around wiring up those resistive slider pots with only two terminals. Looks like you dodged the issue by just using CH/CTS pots.
