Hey guys, I've been getting frustrated at how slow it is to do stuff with the MFDs and ICP in Falcon 4 using the mouse, so I was wondering if there is any way that I can have 2 keyboards connected to my PC so that I have enough keys to map the cockpit controls for the MFDs and ICP onto the 2nd keyboard. Would I have to do a hardware hack or is there software that allows me to assign different keystrokes to the 2nd keyboard?

Thanks.

I don't think you can have two different keyboard maps on your PC, but you can use other hardware such as:
XKeys
Cougar MFD
CH products MFP
These have all been used by users for home pits with great success, there are plenty of profiles out their for falcon too.
If you don't need physical keys then try a touch screen with
Touch Buddy
I prefer the TB option as it give more flexibility for cockpits and you can use use it to display instruments too.
Hope this helps

I was hoping to keep it under $15. smile I found a very interesting program called GlovePIE that looks like it could work with the 2 keyboard approach, but I need to understand its scripting language a little better. If someone has a bit of GlovePIE knowledge, I'd really appreciate some help. My idea is something like this: when I press "A" on keyboard 2, it registers as "Shift + A", and when I press "A" on keyboard 1 is registeres as a normal "A".

I've so far managed to make a script that produces an "ar" when "A" is pressed on keyboard 2. Here's the one line of code:
Code:
Keyboard0.R = Keyboard1.A

Thanks Soko11!

I've been trying it out and I've come across a problem. When I make the macros and test them by changing the key configuration in Falcon 4 using a macroed key, it works fine, but when I press that same key when flying, it does nothing. For example: the hot key for pressing the first left MFD button in Falcon 4 was set to Shift+Ctrl+1 in my configuration setup. So I made a macro that, when I pressed 1 on my 2nd keyboard, Windows registered as Shift+Ctrl+1.

I may be doing something wrong, but surely that macro shown in the screenshot would send the keyboard sequence Shift+Ctrl+1 when I press 1 on keyboard 2?

I don't have F4, so I test with FS9, put +^1 (Shift+Ctrl+1) to toggle landing gear. Work OK.

( and ) is modifier to group of keys, from HIDMacros readme:

Quote:
For example, '+abc' shifts only 'a', while '+(abc)' shifts all three characters.

Falcon 4 may be capturing the keypress before HID Macros gets it.

Damn, is there a way around this if it is true?
