Oke, I did that installed a new driver and again the game crashed. It seems the mean problem seems to be the menu itself.

I am also having the same issue as Jasper when I launch EAW, where the main menu is black for about ten seconds with the menu music playing and then a windows error message comes up saying that it needs to close.
I've been trying to get EAW to work on my XP/Nvidia machine on and off for a couple months now. I have installed the new 1.28c patch onto my original EAW folder and no longer get the 7217 error as I did with earlier patches. I'll keep trying.

do you realy made a EAW1.28c installation?? Or do you maybe only use the EAW1.28c.exe??

Also the EAW.ini need to get created new!

Its recommended not to use the CD install, but to copy/paste the EAW files from the CD to the HD.

This avoid regestry entrys which can cause trouble.

You also can try to run EAWin Win98 compatibility mode.
