We played a few MM missions on this new Sbrodj map last night and I wasn't really impressed with the low res textures and the low vegetation variation and quantity.
The quality reminded me of an old Operation Flashpoint map.
Just wondering why this map was chosen to be added to the SimHQ server?
The map was chosen because it's got some interesting terrain variety, and several decently laid out towns with many open buildings. There are several sizes and layouts of bases, airstrips, sea ports, and rail yards. Gentle rolling hills and open plains for armor. Simply put, I think we can make some good missions on that map design.
There are maps with better graphics. But these often come with their own performance issues. Some I've looked at have roadway issues, where AI crash or can't pass some areas. Or bridges that didn't cleanly align with roads. Others have large areas of the map that aren't useful for our purposes. Sometimes there are hills and valleys so steep that players will have a hard time walking around, to say nothing of AI or vehicles.
Several other maps are being looked at too. This one just offers us a good change of scenery to start with.
