And seems to work quite well.

I have a 15" laptop running a T2300 that came with Vista, and a while back I was curious if I could get Gunship! installed, and if so, how it would run. I tried the install and nothing happened, but I didn't try going into any compatibility modes or anything.

A few weeks back I upgraded that system to Windows 7 and just yesterday tried it again, and it installed and ran fine, other than an occasional screen flicker. I have a $30 Logitech joystick with a rudder twist handle and throttle, along with several buttons, and it works well with this too.

So, if you're looking for a sim to run on some wimpy hardware and Windows 7, Gunship! is definitely an option. For kicks, I might try it on a netbook next...

Just remember that if you want to install it on a netbook, you'll most likely have to copy the CD to an external hard drive or something as netbooks don't have optical drives.

Thanks, I've got a USB DVD drive that I think will work. It will be interesting to see how it performs.

Oh yeah of course, I forgot about external CD/DVD drives.

Hi, Arthonon,
Thanks for mentioning that GS works in Windows7. I'm a troglodyte still huddling 'round the dwindling fire in the XP cave, and was a bit curious as to whether I'd have to give up the game in my next upgrade.

Is the flickering limited to ORT views, or are others screens included? Every computer/OS/video card (ATI or NVidia) that I've had has occasionally produced flickering in all of the ORT views. It's usually a minor annoyance. Switching briefly to another View and then back to the ORT generally fixes it. Haven't really spent enough time in any of the cockpit views to have noticed if they ever flicker.

It flickers in any view, but it's very infrequent, like once every 20-30 seconds or so, and just a minor flit. I even get something similar on my XP desktop, and I think it might be more due to video driver compatibility than anything else.

Arthonon, could you just clarify that it's a Laptop and not a Netbook please? oh, and would you mind posting the rest of your machine's spec? many thanks.

Just in case you may not alredy know, there is a "No-CD Patch" available that might be useful once you've got everything installed.

Hi Hawkl, it is a notebook, with a 15" display and has 2GB of RAM, but I am not certain what the video capability is, and am on vacation so I can't check it right now. I'll check and post when I get back, which will be after Nov. 28th.
