I have Wings over Vietnam, Wings Over Israel, Wings Over Europe and First Eagles.

I thought the only difference between these and SF Vietnam 2, SFI 2 and WOE2 is Vista compatibility. I've got YAP2 installed on one. I've got WOE Desert Storm install.

So my questions are:

1. Is there any reason to get SF2 Israel and SF2 Europe, SF2 Vietnam?

2. Does NF4 work with WOE?

Actually, all ThirdWire sims are Vista compatible and have been since Oct 08.

However, the SF2 series has some additional changes:

1. No multiplayer.
2. New, improved cockpits for all aircraft.
3. DirectX 10 features implemented.
4. RWR significantly upgraded in features, different levels now available.
5. Mods are now much easier to handle...can have one install run different mods with no conflicts.
6. Other, more subtle changes...too many to list.

NF4 is for WOE, NF4+ is for SF2:E.

FC, I picked up both SF2I and SF2E.

I don't know how I can install NF4+ with this setup though. Is it possible?

It is. NF4+ has three or four modules and you install them into the mod folder. It's built to run solely on SF2 architecture.

I don't see that folder and the readme folders named i don't see either. I've got merged install so if someone knows how to do separate SF2E install for the NF+ that would be awesome!

G'day Airdrop,

I just went through the same thing! With the re-release I decided to give the series a try.

Merged install is fine actually, it took a while for me to figure out that the mod folder is different now - it's not called a mod folder anymore!! It's in my documents.

So this is what you gotta do (cant remember actual folder names but close enough):
1. Run both games and configure your settings for each. Each exe has it's own copy of settings.
2. Go to My Documents. Open the ThirdWire folder. Check and ensure you have a folder for each game. Your "mod folder" for europe is actually there - something like "my documents\thirdwire\strike fighters 2 europe".
You also have one for israel mods - "my documents\thirdwire\strike fighters 2 israel"
3. Download nato fighters - the SF2E version not the old version:
http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?app=downloads&showcat=407
4. Install the NATO fighters in the right order - into your strike fighters 2 europe folder under my documents\thirdwire\strike fighters 2 europe.
5. Use the Europe executable to launch your game
6. Make sure you pick a campaign from the europe game - be careful it lists all campaigns here!! Check the manual it will tell you which campaigns belong to which game.

So merged install works well. I also added F-22 to the Israel campaign by putting these ones in the Israel "mod folder":
http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?app=downloads&showfile=9677
http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?autocom=downloads&showfile=9217

I went a bit further and bought vietnam as well, and put the mod for SF2V Air and Ground War Expansion Pack v2.0.

So now I have a merged install with 3 modded games.

I put a shortcut for each one on the desktop and renamed it to the name of the mod.

Took ages to setup but it's worth it now I'm in strike fighters heaven.
