Has anyone made use of a HP tablet for simming?

Anyone integrated one in to their cockpit?

Ive got one kicking around doing nothing other than being a door stop, so just wondering what would be the best way to use one of these puppies for simming?

Regards

One use would be as an electronic kneeboard to display maps and other stuff.

What a tablet could offer your cockpit is a touchscreen monitor that can be used to diaplay instruments or things like touchbuddy.
The problem would be that the tablet is a seperate computer so you need some way to connect the sim PC and the tablet and have software that can use this connection.
IIRC there is software that will extend a desktop and display the extra part on a second computer. (but I don't recall it's name banghead) In that case all software can run on the sim PC.

You can use it to use a touchscreen as an inputdevice.

Thanks guys, touch buddy looks interesting.

I think the thing with Micrpsunge flight sim is that I could always drag something on to the tablet couldnt I (from memory buts its been a few years since I last use MSFS).

I have an HP TC1100 Tablet PC, but its input is pen-only for the screen, which wouldn't make TouchBuddy very practical. (For me, touch isn't really a priority as I mostly look at Tablet PCs for handwriting and drawing with a Wacom pen.)

However, it does make a nice document viewer (no longer do I miss having a paper manual for Falcon 4.0: Allied Force since I can just fire up the .PDF one on the TC1100 and jump to whatever page I need), and OneNote is useful for when I have to jot down important tidbits like, say, CCRP bombing coordinates.

In short, it's mostly an electronic kneeboard when it's not being my primary computer outside of home.

Nameless,

You ever thought of puttig little magnets in the glove so you can still take advantage of the touch screen?

Magnets alone wouldn't work on a Wacom digitizer. I'd basically have to tape the pen to my finger to use it.

Maybe you can make a glove that will serve to hold it in place above your finger?

I've considered it, but it would probably feel very awkward, especially when that same hand is probably going to be grasping the stick or throttle for a while.
