I am currently running version 2.10. I assigned custom key presses for the magnetos, i.e. FK_MAG01 and FK_MAG02. However, they don't seem to work when I tried them on a Bf-109. Strangely, they worked when I tested them on a Spitfire. Did I make a mistake or miss some important steps?

Should work for all A/C.

Are you using the User Manual Appendix H for the directions?

Thank you for your reply. I am following the directions in Appendix H and do this for the Bf-109:

1. FK_MAG01 to turn on Magneto 1,
2. FK_MAG02 to turn on Magneto 2,
3. FK_MAG02 to turn on both Magnetos.

However, Magneto 1 does not even turn on with the first key press. The strange thing is both these keys work for the Spitfire.

I read here (Stickman's post at the top of the page) that the magneto key mappings did not work for the 109 in an earlier version, but I am not sure if it is fixed in 2.10.

I for got my password to SimHQ. I think I know what he has not done, edit the ACM files for Bf109 and Bf110. This from the Manual. it is an easy edit:

You will need to do a little bit of editing in the ACM text files for the Me109 & Me110 in order to use the keyboard for operation of the magnetos - these files can be found in the "MODELS" folder of the BoBII directory. You can open these using NOTEPAD (PLEASE, IF YOU ARE UNSURE, MAKE A BACKUP COPY OF THE ACM FILES BEFORE MAKING YOUR CHANGES!!!!).

For the Me109, you will see something similar to the following at the top:

AGAIN, ALTER THE MAGTYPE FOR BOTH ENGINES TO READ AS FOLLOWS:
MagType 1
Now save the file and you're done!
This will now enable you to operate the magnetos on both Messerschmitt fighters by using your defined keyboard commands.
If at some point in the future you want to use the magnetos by mouse again, just follow the same process outlined above, but change the MAGTYPE back to 2.

I use ALT - 3 and ALT - 4 both to move the Emil magneto lever.

Thank you very much for your help! I will try it later today and report back. I basically assign some unused keys and map them to my CH Throttle Quadrant. It works great with the Spitfire.
