Well, Newegg began the holiday sales event.
Bought a WD Caviar Black 640GB for $50 free shipping.
Bought a Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 ST31000528AS 1TB for $90 free shipping.
Building a Home Theater PC out of my wife's current system. Giving her my current system. Updating my system.
Anyhow, I want a high capacity drive for the HTPC. The low prices on the model "12" 1TB Seagate roped me in. I'll take the chance. However, though it should be good, I would not use it as the primary drive on my system or my wife's.
This order makes 3 WD I've bought since my recent Seagate drive failure. 3 lost sales for Seagate. That sort of thing is driving down Seagate prices and pumping up WD (except for that 640GB). Competition is good
