I'll look into Samsung.

It will likely be that or WD.

I have a nice pile of dead samsung and seagate drives.
I stick with WD drives nowadays. Fast enough, cool and quiet.

Well, Newegg began the holiday sales event.

Bought a WD Caviar Black 640GB for $50 free shipping.

Bought a Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 ST31000528AS 1TB for $90 free shipping.

Building a Home Theater PC out of my wife's current system. Giving her my current system. Updating my system.

Anyhow, I want a high capacity drive for the HTPC. The low prices on the model "12" 1TB Seagate roped me in. I'll take the chance. However, though it should be good, I would not use it as the primary drive on my system or my wife's.

This order makes 3 WD I've bought since my recent Seagate drive failure. 3 lost sales for Seagate. That sort of thing is driving down Seagate prices and pumping up WD (except for that 640GB). Competition is good smile

Me too, glad you got in before they sold out.

I just hope they are now wrapping them securely (various user comments regarding UPS and hard drive survival rates!)

I also acquired a DVD writer, 4GB DDR3 1600 RAM, and a Sennheiser headset with the free shipping and various assorted Black Friday discounts. Unfortunately the motherboard I'm after is not yet free shipping. Will check back tomorrow.

Picked up a slightly cheaper Windows 7 Pro 64 and an Intel i5-750 from Tiger Direct (free shipping).

Obviously a bit annoyed that the G11 keyboard I got a couple of weeks ago is practically half price in the sale, but the discounting on the headset and RAM more than covered it!
